Yet, they are very quick to remind us that they're not the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets. Instead they wish they were the Rays.

It reminds me of John York saying that the 'Niners model should be the Philadelphia Eagles. Really? The team with 5 rings should be emulating the Eagles? Now, because of one random, lucky season the Giants want to follow the same formula of an expansion team with one post-season appearance.Theohttp://www.examiner.com/x-1053-San-Francisco-Giants-Examinernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7941261488380355005.post-41634623428063818012009-11-05T06:42:51.476-08:002009-11-05T06:42:51.476-08:00We certainly can't watch the A's.

He has once has already referred to the 2009 season as a 'winning year.'

The language this organization uses isn't going to be the determining factor in them making the playoffs or somehow, miraculously, winning a World Series.

Still, I guarantee the Yankees don't use words like 'competitive,' 'winning,' or 'contend.' They have one solitary goal — a championship.

The Yankees aren't the only one's either. I'd imagine it's the same in Boston, LA (and Anaheim), Philli, maybe even Detroit and St. Louis.

The Giants don't.

Last February Larry Baer was on KNBR with the Ralph and Tom. Ralph was belaboring the Mark Tiexiera contract. Baer responded by asking Ralph if he wanted the Giants to get into a bidding war with the Yankees. Of course that's what we want! Your in the same sport as them, vying for the same talent and allegedly striving for the same thing.

This organization has tabled the idea of winning in favor of pacifying the casual fan. And they'll get away with it too because we're all addicted, we're all lifers. Besides, what else are we going to do, watch the A's?Theohttp://www.examiner.com/x-1053-San-Francisco-Giants-Examinernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7941261488380355005.post-60330003761307243672009-11-04T18:58:53.794-08:002009-11-04T18:58:53.794-08:00Dear Mr. O'Connor,

It is always interesting to hear what our fans are thinking, whether it be in the form of praise or constructive criticism, and it is our sincere hope that this translates into massive purchases of Giants, LLC MLB approved merchandise as well as expensive game tickets.

Your passion for the Giants is shared by all of us here in the Giants' front office. Be assured that we continually look for ways to improve and a winning team (in terms of ability to grow revenues) is always at the top of our objective list. To the extent that can be accomplished by a winning team, so much the better!

Yours in unity of a vision of the Giants future,

William H. NeukomZonoreply@blogger.com
