The Giants complete the sweep against the Rockies with a dramatic win in Denver. They take the season series 15-4 with their 53rd road win. Kevin Gausman was back to form with a stirring 11-strikeout, no-walk performance. His only blemish was a C.J. Cron solo shot. Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the 7th, Jose Alvarez and Zack Littel gave up the tying run on a Coorsian sequence involving an error by Wilmer Flores and a balk, but that was all. Camilo Doval struck out the side in the 8th to set up the comeback in the 9th. Steven Duggar led off with a walk, Flores walked, and Tommy La Stella singled in the go-ahead run. Brandon Crawford came up with two outs and cleared the bases with a home run and everyone breathed easier. Kervin Castro got the last three outs. He was on deck for the 9th regardless, fortunately he had a much less stressful outing. BCraw's had a lot of big hits but that one was pretty damn big.
The Giants sweep consecutive series at Coors Field. No Giants team has ever done that. No other team this season has swept a series from the Rockies at home. The entire pitching staff was superb, allowing only one homer and a total of six runs in the three games. The bad news is that Brandon Belt was hit by a pitch on his hand and might have a thumb injury.
With the two-game lead the team's magic number is five. If the Giants go 5-1 in their final six games they'll clinch the West regardless of what the Dodgers do. The last two series (Arizona and San Diego) will be played in San Francisco.
It's an off-day tomorrow. Logan Webb starts Tuesday night (6:45 PT).
GO GIANTS!

The Giants were at home against the Rockies for three in early April and swept them. The Rockies came back at the end of the month and the Giants won two of three. That's a 5-1 record.
The Giants went to Colorado in early May and lost two of three, one a walk-off. The Rockies came to SF in August and lost three of four. That's 9-4 cumulative.
The Giants went back to Colorado earlier this month and won all three games by a combined score of 29-12. They swept the three this weekend by a combined score of 20-6.
So that's where the 15-4 record comes from. Nine games at Coors (7-2) and ten at Oracle (8-2).
In the inning where Crawford homered, facing a pitcher brought in to pitch to him, we saw two very disappointing at bats, one from Bryant and One from Posey to former MVP's. They essentially got themselves out. Posey definitely would have walked if he just kept the bat on his shoulder. Bryant did get a questionable strike called on him, but later in the AB he got himself out by swinging at two pretty bad pitches and not coming close. IF the giants do re-sign Bryant, I hope they work on his plate discipline. Although Longoria is in a couple of day slump, it has been refreshing this year to see his vast improvement in plate discipline. I think it has helped him as a hitter. The box score showed Alvarez's run to be earned. Why? Also the second run scored by the Rockies, scored on an overturned call. Did Casali or did he not get his glove on the uniform of Cron sliding in? I couldn't tell. It all ended up okay though.
Belt has a fracture. He's on the IL for the rest of the regular season.
It's a damn shame. Belt was playing superb baseball, the best of his career.
Whoever is the hottest seems to end up getting injured and going on the I.L.
