The Giants have played seven games since the All-Star Break and they've lost all seven. Today they had Logan Webb on the mound pitching well late in a tie game and it all fell apart and turned into another depressing loss. Getting swept by the Dodgers was one thing, following that by getting swept by the Diamondbacks is quite another. The team is in free fall and in danger of letting the whole season slip away. They are now 48-50 and only three games up on Arizona and 3-1/2 on Colorado. The problem is there are no quick fixes. There are no trades that will turn things around, and no prospects to promote that will make a big enough impact. The team has to get better performances from the people they have in uniform right now.

Go Giants!

p.s. I'm having surgery on my right hand tomorrow. That's going to slow down my keyboarding for a bit, I expect, and thus my posting will be a little irregular. It should be a routine procedure, I've got a big chunk of collagen growing in my palm (Dupuytren's contracture) that has to get cut out.

Now with Estrada down, the Dubon trade looks even worse.
The Giants seem to be able to help the Cardinals, but not themselves.
My right hand is in a cast for another week so I'm not expecting to do much typing or posting! Thanks for chiming in guys!
I see we traded Darin Ruf. That's a bummer as I like Ruf, but I get it. They've also traded Curt Casali and two pitchers (Matthew Boyd and Trevor Rosenthal) who never suited up! Farhan likes to stockpile injured players, too.
MLBTR summarized the NL moves in this post:

Here's the part about the Giants:
San Francisco: Despite listening to offers on impending free agents Carlos Rodon and Joc Pederson in the midst of career years, the disappointing Giants — currently hovering around both .500 and the periphery of the NL Wild Card race but well shy of last year’s torrid pace — largely stood pat at the deadline, making only a handful of minor moves. They acquired infielder Dixon Machado (from the Cubs) and catcher/infielder Ford Proctor (from the Rays) before swapping Darin Ruf for J.D. Davis, pitcher Thomas Szapucki, and a pair of minor-league arms. They also traded away a handful of more minor pieces, including catcher Curt Casali and left-hander Matthew Boyd (to the Mariners for a pair of minor leaguers), and rehabbing right-hander Trevor Rosenthal (to the Brewers for another minor leaguer).
