Rookie Tristan Beck has pitched well overall but he got clobbered in his Friday start in San Diego. His fellow rookie Kyle Harrison, fresh off a sparkling home debut, fell victim to the same onslaught on Saturday. Beck allowed nine hits (2 HR) and six runs in 2-2/3 IP leading to a 7-3 loss. Harrison fared a bit better, pitching into the 6th while also allowing six runs, but he got dinged for four bombs. He did strike out five against only two walks, so there's that. The final was 6-1. He may be a phenom but he's still a rookie. He'll learn how to keep the ball in the yard, I'm sure. The Giants got nothing going against Michael Wacha on Friday and Blake Snell dominated them on Saturday. September is not starting well.
Alex Cobb starts this afternoon (1:10 PT) in the final game. Then it's on to Chicago to face the Cubs.
Go Giants!

Having watched San Diego beat the Giants on Friday and Saturday, I am hard pressed to figure out why their record is not much, much better.
Back to back shutouts against the Padres and the Cubs. 18 innings of no offense and no runs. Is it time to raise the white flag? I'm a life long Giant's fan and hope beyond hope that they still have a chance to make the playoffs, but their offense has completely disappeared and I don't see it returning anytime soon. What next? Gotta break the losing string and at least win a game and go from there. As they say, one game at a time. Just win baby!
Well that sucked. Losing the last three to the Padres and getting swept by the Cubs. If the Giants don't figure out to hit off speed pitches, score more runs than their opposing team and win much more than they lose, they'll be packing their bags for Cabo, Hawaii, golf vacations, etc. Just WIN baby.
