The Giants sign Jorge Soler for three years and $42 million. The righty slugger will slot in as the primary DH and will give the lefty-leaning lineup a real power threat. He hit homers in Miami which is a hard place for right-handed power hitters so I expect the adjustment to Oracle Park will not be a problem. He's a limited player defensively but if he can hit the ball hard regularly he will help the team.

Soler will bring a lot of uncertainty as he has been up-and-down his entire career. If he can stay healthy he will deliver the pop the Giants need. When he hits he produces big power. The key will be keeping him in the lineup (and off the field!).
It is a risky move in terms of dollars. If he can produce 1.5 WAR/year for three years it is a relative bargain. But if he can only manage half a WAR/year then it's not. But the Giants have money and they can afford it.
In his two best seasons he hit 48 (2019) and 36 (2023) HR.
I like all the moves the team has made. I just want to see a few more!
El Yoyo and El Crudo are his nicknames. He's from Cuba, came up with the Cubs in 2014, and will be 32 on the 25th of this month. He was MVP of the 2021 World Series after he came to the Braves in a mid-season trade. He signed a three-year deal with the Marlins after that but opted out of the final year at $13M. This gives him a pay bump but also a guaranteed third year. That was apparently a sticking point with other teams. Like I said the Giants have the money to burn and let's see them burn some more!
What happened with Chapman? I thought that was the guy they really needed.
Supposedly they are still interested but I have not heard anything new. He's a Boras client.
Soler Power. He has Power which this club lacks, but does not add athleticism, which this club also lacks.
