When Blake Snell opted out of his last start I think we all knew he wasn't coming back. Oh, I had visions of them throwing money at him, but after Posey was PoBOed reality set in. Of course the Dodgers have a spare $182M for a guy like Snell and the Giants aren't going to play that game. They don't have LA's financial muscle or its star appeal. Whatever. The Giants will have to improve in other ways. There won't be a Christmas Miracle like Juan Soto.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. We all have much to be thankful for. Perhaps the Posey Effect will kick in this winter and San Francisco will field a really good, really cool team next spring. Or perhaps not. Either way, life/baseball goes on!
I hope everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

p.s. The Giants have been linked to Tomoyuki Sugano, a veteran NPB ace.

I didn't expect the giants to sign Snell or Soto. But is not Charles Johnson and his family multi-billionaires? Also how do the dodgers sign all these high price players and not pay a major cap penalty. If their contracts are creative to minimize the cap issue, why are other teams not doing the same thing? Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Drinks are on Snell.
Of course Snell signed with LA, because life is just that kind. Maybe they can get Soto, too. I read where Manfred is considering a proposal that would let the top team in each division, by record, get 3 byes instead of just 1 in the playoffs. The people who run the game are conspiring to make it less and less interesting.
LA has to pay cap penalties, they just don't care. I read that, although they are only paying Ohtani 2 million per year, their "cost" in calculating the cap is somewhere north of $40 mil.
Sorry, that was me.
BCraw retired.
I do not just say this as a Giants fan, but MLB has a Dodgers problem.
Owners have always figured out how to game the system. The luxury tax, for example, is just another expense. It won't keep the Yankees from getting Juan Soto.
The playoffs add a little randomness so that LA or NY doesn't win every year, but mid-level payroll teams have a much harder time sustaining success. I wish I knew the answers.
My very unpopular and non-doable idea is that the Giants never should have left New York. Way too late for that.
Well, this is weird. Apparently, Wilmer Flores has signed a minor league deal with the Detroit Tigers. But not the Wilmer Flores that we know, a different Wilmer Flores. That Wilmer Flores exercised his option to remain with the Giants about a month ago. That's not the weird thing, though. Wilmer Flores is the brother of Wilmer Flores.
Just like George Foster naming male child in the family George Foster, The Flores family did the same thing with Wilmer. There are a whole bunch of them.
I am reading that Willy Adames is signing with the Giants. This is exactly what the Giants needed to do.
Yes! I'll get a post up today.
