The Giants avoid a sweep with a dramatic walk-off win. Falling behind early by five runs they battled back and tied it in the 8th on Wilmer's homer. They won it in the 10th with a Mike Yastrzemski Splash Hit.
I was on Mount Shasta having my final skiing day of the season. It was a beautiful day and I missed the game entirely. I followed all of last night's disappointing 1-0 loss. Fortunately the bats awakened today.
Tomorrow is a travel day and they open a three-game set in Yankee Stadium Friday at 4:05 Pacific. Robbie Ray goes up against Marcus Stroman.
Go Giants!

Getting their timing back. The giants have hit a number of just foul would be home runs, especially Yaz, who has a handful of such shots. Chapman and a few others have a few also. Now Yaz could be getting his timing back as he turned on one that was fair by a few feet for the game winner. Flores shot was also down the line. I hated to waste two really good pitching performances, but the Cincinnati defense was a big part of those shutouts, and also one of the reasons the giants did not win that final game before they had to go to extra innings. Ramos was the victim of several excellent plays. Verlander has to figure out how to not have a hiccup in the third inning, but a bad bounce here and there made a big difference. Glad the team found a way to get him off the hook. Would still like another lefty in the bullpen. After Doval had given up a run in 2 straight outings, even though one was unearned due to an error, I was surprised he chose him to pitch the 8th in a zero to zero tie. I thought, does every giants fan on the planet, want Melvin to have someone else come in for that situation?
The problem with Doval is that he's got too much talent to to give up on! Not many guys throw a 100 mph cutter. Giants really need him to figure it out.
