Not to take anything away from Logan Webb who delivered six scoreless innings, but Jung Hoo Lee had a career night. He hit two homers and added a sac fly, plus he stole a base and added two nice catches. The depleted bullpen relied on 2/3 from Keaton Winn, 1-1/3 from San Hentges, and a rocky 9th from Tristan Beck bailed out by Reiver Sanmartin. Beck got an out but allowed a solo homer and a walk. Sanmartin got the double play to end it.
After the carnage of the trading deadline, it was nice to see the team put together a solid win.
So the Giants part ways with Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray, which was expected. That they got some decent minor-league talent in the process is a win for the club. If you saw how cheaply Detroit sold their ace to LA you'll understand what I mean. Caleb Killian goes, as does Erik Miller. Both are talented but like everyone else on this staff, inconsistent. Heliot Ramos goes as well, he's been in the SF organization since he was 17! I'm happy he gets to go to the Yankees. Tyler Mahle, we hardly knew ye.
Of the players obtained, Marcelo Mayer goes to the 40-man but is on the 10-day IL. Anthony Molina is on the 40-man but goes to AAA. Miguel Mendez goes to AA. Kaeden Kent, Ramon Marquez, Henry Lalane, and Marty Gair go to High-A. Joniel Hernandez goes to Rookie League. Other than Mayer and Molina there aren't any major leaguers but beefing up the system is, as I said, a good outcome for the team.
5:05 tomorrow and 11:35 for Wednesday's getaway game, all times Pacific.They are off Thursday and back home for the weekend against the Tigers.

Kaeden Kent is Jeff Kent's kid. He's a lefty-swinging IF and will be at Eugene.
Barry Bonds' nephew, Peyton, was assigned to Rookie League.
The Giants did well at the deadline. They recognized that this was a sunk season and the only smart play was to "sell" and "re-tool" with younger players. They pulled that off nicely. The Marcelo Mayer trade could be a real winner. And everyone is high on the 20-year old pitcher (Ramon Marquez).
The Tigers punted, and badly. They are the real losers. Also the Brewers should have gone "all-in" and made the big trades to improve the club. Their window to compete against the LA Juggernaut isn't going to be open forever. Contrast to the Cubs who took some big swings to upgrade for the final push.
25-year old Eddys Leonard will be called up from AAA. He was picked up from the Milwaukee organization who cut him loose a few weeks back. He's a RH utility infielder from the DR who signed originally as a 17-year old with LA.
Call-up Blade Tidwell gets the start tonight. We saw Beck and Sanmartin last night, they also called up Carson Seymour.
Tidwell came over in the Tyler Rogers trade. He's a Tennesse guy, like Drew Gilbert, who came in the same trade. He pitched a few innings earlier this year and had some ML time in 2025 with the Mets.
The official score keeper kind of screwed Susac on several accounts in this game. First his double was scored an error. I would say ok, tough call by the scorekeeper, except several almost similar plays occurred and the batters were given hits.. Then on a pickoff, wild throw Susac got to second and then to third. There was no stolen base granted, just a caught stealing and a pickoff. I have seen guys get picked off before and the throw had been errant and the baserunner was still given the stolen base. How much score keeping is basically in the rule book, and how much is at the discretion of that days scorekeeper? Double whammy against Susac's stats.
