Riot Breaks Out Over Relief

I stole this headline from a British newspaper about David Cameron's proposed cuts to the welfare system. Wait, what? It's not "a riot," it's "The riot"? Theriot? I remember back about December 9, at 9:28 am, some idiot said, " They also said that they were trying to 'fill the hole at shortstop.' Then, it became 'Crawford's our starter' followed by 'Crawford has yet to demonstrate the ability to hit left handed pitching at any level' followed by, 'We're set at shortstop.'" I guess he was wrong on that, too. Oh well, good thing Bruce Bochy tends to favor up-and-coming young men.

PS. Clay Hensley

Always liked Hensley, not sure if he has anything left, though. Theriot is insurance--this year's Orlando Cabrera. You gotta stock the roster with some replacement players, ya know, just in case. Let's hope the Giants don't need him!

Actually, the Giants said long ago that they were looking for a shortstop to hit from the right side as backup insurance. And they found one. I guess that this is a case of making a minor move when all the hot stove hype has died down. It remains to be seen whether this impacts Crawford's development.

Yeah, it looks like we will have Terry-O and Font'n-O in the daily mix. I want Crawford to go all Posey on us and play everyday because they can't take him out. But hard cruel reality will likely set in and the rook will struggle some of the time. Gotta have the old pros around to take the heat off. I have confidence that Crawford will do well and get the bulk of the work. Judicious use of VSC types to complement the young star will be an important task for Ol' Boch.

When Theriot became a Cardinal they took off, and started winning. Whether it was causal, or Pujols getting hot at the right time had something to do with it, and the Cards revamping their pen all worked in Unison had something to do with it, time will tell. But now the Cards no longer have Pujols, nor do they have Theriot. This is the year that St.Louis fans will miss the Ring hold Theriot. Oh wait, if the giants let him go, he could end up back with the cardinal.
