After getting thumped yesterday the Giants bounced back behind a strong start from Johnny Cueto. He breezed through five but got into trouble in the 6th with two walks and an error on a potential double play ball. But Jarlin Garcia came in to get the whiff with the bases loaded and end the threat. That was as good as it got for LA today. The Giants rapped out nine hits, four of them driving in runs with two outs. Brandon Crawford, just off the IL, got the scoring started with a two-run double in the 1st. What can you say about BCraw this season? He's been amazing! It was a "score early, score often" approach and that's worked well for the team all year. The bullpen was superb again with Dominic Leone striking out two in the 7th, Tyler Rogers striking out three in the 8th, and Jake McGee retiring Muncy, Turner, and Bellinger on easy outs in the 9th.
The Giants and Dodgers have played 16 games this season and each team has scored 68 runs. The Giants have won eight games and the Dodgers have won eight games. Huge win today to take the series and even things up!
The Astros come to town tomorrow night for a weekend set. Kevin Gausman gets the opener at 6:45 PT.
Go Giants!

p.s. That's just the third time the Dodgers have been blanked this season. Another tidbit: no homers by the Giants in the three games, yet they won two of them!

Today the law of reciprocal shutouts worked in favor of the giants.
I don’t want to jinx him but….I’m super impressed by Jaylin Garcia. He seems to be the early guy in, like today, and that seems to be working. But I kinda want to see him later in the game. I guess I’m never gonna be very confident in Rogers, which is really not fair (especially given today’s gem) but I can’t shake it. McGee is rather quietly dominating the league. Altogether an interesting bullpen, well put together. Another sign of good management
The 'pen was a mess early in the season, but they've worked out a lot of the bugs. Agree about Garcia, he's pitching really well and gives Kap another weapon for the late game, high stress situations.
We will also have to see if Jackson continues to be the real deal.
From Russell Dorsey at the Chicago Sun-Times:
The Cubs have reportedly traded third baseman Kris Bryant to the Giants, according to reports.
Bryant’s trade has been expected for some time and after the Cubs made the decision to be sellers at the deadline, it was only a matter of time.
The trade closes a chapter on what was the golden era of Cubs baseball and breaks up the team World Series core after first baseman Anthony Rizzo was traded to the Yankees on Thursday and Javy Baez sent to the Mets on Friday.
Bryant, 29, was the cornerstone of the Cubs’ rebuild and was the team’s No. 3 overall pick in 2013 before being on a fast track to the big leagues where he would take the baseball world by storm, winning Minor League Player of the Year in 2014, Rookie of the Year in 2015 and was named NL MVP in 2016.
The former MVP has been a staple in the Cubs’ lineup this season and has bounced back, leading the Cubs in nearly every offensive category. He’s slashing .267/.358/.503 with 18 homers, 51 RBI with a 132 wRC+ this season.
Bryant said that he’d always keep the door open to returning to the Cubs in free agency and that the city of Chicago always has a special place with him.
“Deep down in my heart, I know I’ve had some of the best memories here and some of the best times of my life,” Bryant said on Tuesday.
No word in this article about what the Giants sent for him.
KNBR is also reporting the same thing, but no mention of who went to Chicago.
Jeff Passan, Ken Rosenthal, Bob Nightengale, and our own Andrew Baggarly all say "Bryant to Giants."
Baggs says Alexander Canario (A-OF) and Caleb Killian (AA-RHP) go to the Cubs. Canario was on the 40-man.
