Phils avoid sweep

PHI  6  SF 1

Kyle Harrison gave up twelve hits in five innings of work. Three were doubles and two were homers so it seems a miracle he only allowed four runs. The other two were scored off rookie Randy Rodriguez in the 8th, he had a nice stretch of five scoreless appearances (7-2/3 IP) before that. The lineup managed a mere six hits, two by Heliot Ramos, one of which came in the 9th to score the only run.

It's an off-day tomorrow. The Yankees come to town on Friday night (7:15 PT) with Jordan Hicks getting the start. Saturday night (7:05) features Logan Webb and on Sunday (1:05) it's Blake Snell.

Go Giants!

p.s. Looks like LaMonte Wade, Jr. is out for four weeks (hamstring). That's why there's Trenton Brooks on the roster.

Usually I like the way Casali calls a game. Unless Harrison missed his spots a lot, I did not like the way Casali called this game for Harrison. Especially his pitch selection vs Castellano. But Harrison's strengths are on his rising 4 seamer up in the zone. and although Bohm hit one there, for the most part it was a very effective pitch. He threw too many low in the strike zone strikes. Not that the giants had a chance to win as they did not hit. Before the series vs. the yanks I will be happy if the giants take 2 of 3, but if they take the first 2, I would hate to just settle for 2 of 3. The Yankees are loaded, and the giants are suffering from injury after injury, but that does not mean we cannot beat them. Seems as if Judge is on a hot streak, and Stanton seems to always do well in SF. Time to shut them down.
