0-for-23

The Giants went 0-for-23 with runners in scoring position over the weekend in the three-game series with the Mets. They lost all three games.

Now, the team doesn't hit all that well. They bat .233, the 26th-worst in MLB. Their OBP is .311, which is 21st. They slug .375, also 26th out of 30 teams. At 4.12 runs per game, the offense rates 23rd.

That's bad. So, we shouldn't expect much from the lineup. They just aren't very good. But this RISP thing is truly weird. I mean, 0-for-23!! Yikes. How is that even possible?

In the good news department, Carson Whisenhunt is getting promoted. He'll be activated tonight. They'll have to clear a spot for him on the roster.

Roupp has gone on the 15 day IL with an inflammed elbow.

Yeah I mentioned that in the comments on the last post. That's too bad. He was pitching well. Of the three youngsters--Birdsong, Harrison, and Roupp--he's the one that survived! Let's hope he gets back soon.

If Buster thinks this is a playoff team then they'll have to get another starter. I suppose we'll know pretty soon.

Actually, I did not! I saw the story yesterday and meant to comment on it!!

Anyway, it sucks. They need all the arms they can get at this point.

Carson Ragsdale was cut loose. That means the team has only two Carsons left and both are on the big league roster: Carson Whisenhunt (#88) and Carson Seymour (#77).

The Giants also picked up another catcher. Diego Cartaya, a 23-year old from Venezuala, was originally signed by the Dodgers as a teenager. He hit a ton in the low minors but struggled at the higher levels. Eventually he wound up with the Twins and then he was cut loose again. He's on a minor league deal. Cartaya was a highly-regarded catching prospect at one point and is still pretty young so maybe there is still some upside.

The approach has to change. Swinging for the fences when the situation Requires contact, does not work well for a team that is not a big power team. The fielding mishaps, even when there is no error charged are getting kind of expected. The base running screw ups are far too many. I want a hitting approach that is more consistent with Oracle park. I want the fundamentals to look like a major league team is on the field, and not a little league team. Since the devers trade (devers hitting 219, with over 50 alike outs I. 137 official abs . Since the trade Boston has been winning and Posey's giants have been losing. I hate to see Rogers go, right before the giants will be playing against him. Soon the giants will find themselves behind the Marlins in the wildcard chase. This team is collapsing worse than the 2016 giants after the Duffy trade. Going into today's game the giants team batting avg. Was 232. Our co-aces can't beat other team's 3rd, 4th, or 5th starters lately. Who did not figure out that as soon as the giants scored a run for webb, he would cough one up before getting an out. He did better than I thought. I figured a first pitch homer for Pittsburgh. The fan base has been coming out. If we do not have a winning road trip, expect attendance to dwindle.
