Another win!

SF 5  PIT 2

The Giants banged out a dozen hits but ten of them were singles. A homer by Rafael Devers and a double by Heliot Ramos were the only ones that went for extra bases. It was a bit agonizing to watch them put guys on and not drive them in but finally in the 7th they broke through and put up a three-spot to take charge of the game. Luis Arraez had the big hit. Robbie Ray did his usual pitching ugly but it was effective (6 IP, 7K) and he allowed just one run. Excellent relief from Keaton Winn and Matt Gage kept the lid on until the 9th. Caleb Killian struggled but after allowing a run and stranding two guys he finally nailed it down.

Looks like Landen Roupp this evening (6:06 PT). Day game (1:05 ) tomorrow.

Go Giants!

It would appear that the Giants no longer have a Gold Glover behind the plate.

Not much of a return.

I am not unhappy trading Bailey, but the giants do not seem to ever get back a decent return. Can Bailey start hitting for any team or not.

And Logan Webb is now on the 15 day IL. Trevor McDonald has been recalled.

I called it. Trading Bailey and Webb going to the IL. Getting the 29th pick in the draft (they already have #4) is great. This is the draft the Giants have to nail. I'm okay with the return. A pitcher AND a draft pick? That's a good haul. Buster doesn't fool around, man!

An article I read in the Athletic agrees with you.

Really? David Pinto thinks Buster got fleeced but he only talked the pitcher part of the deal. The draft pick is a nice one:

Anyway, we'll see. The Giants really need to score with these two picks.

Joey Bart is the big stick beating the Giants tonight.

July 11-13 is this year's draft. They also have #55 and #90.

I think it’s a decent return. He was batting .146. Lifetime .224.

Bummer he couldn’t bat well enough for it to make him worth keeping around for his defense. But I like the trade and I’m ready to move on. Let’s see what the backups can do with more playing time.

Kudos to Buster for making this move. Nice to see him make a tough decision and not shy away from it.

Can’t believe we are in the third inning. It’s getting real tough to think this season is salvageable….

He also had a game winning hit against us last year.

He was traded when his value was the lowest, but I suppose if his value was high he would not be traded.

Ryan Walker and Gregory Santos have been sent to Sacramento. Sam Hentges and Dylan Smith have been recalled. If the ship continues to founder on the rocks, we may have to call in the Tugboat.

Ahoy, matey! If he turns out to be an ML stud they could really have some fun with that in McCovey Cove. Be a great promotion: tugboat rides for the kiddies when The Tugboat pitches. Whatever else, it's a world-class baseball nickname.
