Sanchez to Start for P.R. Against Surprising Dutch Team

Giants lefty Jonathan Sanchez takes the mound in a few hours at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan Puerto Rico in the final game of group D in the World Baseball Classic. He takes on the Netherlands, who upset the favored team from the Dominican Republic, eliminating them.
The Puerto Rican team features Ivan Rodriguez, or "Pudge,"undoubtedly one of the greatest catchers who ever played the game. Yadier Molina, brother of Giants Bengie, is the team's other catcher.
For some reason I'm more interested in the WBC than in Cactus League play.

Are you concerned that the workload in a "real" competition might be detrimental to our youngster? Or do you think the WBC will be good for him?

Sanchez was the winning pitcher today in PR's 5-0 victory over the Dutch. He went four innings, gave up 2 hits and 0 runs. He struck out 4.

Excellent posting lately Bro! I share your excitement with the WBC. Each morning seems to bring new incredible reports of upsets, comebacks and nail-biters. Seems like some great baseball is happening.

To answer MOC: I am not particularly worried about Sanchez's health, so the WBC experience could actually prove to be very big for him. As Zo's report shows, he is doing great and it could translate to a new level in the bigs. He has the gifts and this will help with the confidence and poise.

I hope Jon's right. I believe this was Sanchez's first game in 7 days. Four innings won't kill him.
I'm psyched about his success yesterday.
