US Gets Even With PR

Jonathan Sanchez had a weak showing in his final start for Team Puerto Rico, going 2.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs. He wasn't the reason PR lost though. USA scored 3 in the 9th to pull out a 6-5 victory and advance to the final round at Dogger Stadium.
Let's hope the tournament was a positive experience for the Giants' young lefty.

I wonder if "seasoning" is a valid notion here. That is, the WBC is a unique opportunity to face lots of good ballplayers in situations not quite the same as the regular season (or ST). I would think such an experience would be very valuable to a young pitcher's maturity. Pitching is mental, mostly, since ALL professionals have talent and the ability to throw (well, maybe not Barry Zito).

I'd like to think this experience was good "seasoning" for our young star-in-the-making.

I look forward to big things from Sanchez this year. If he gets off to a good start, he could be one of the big surprises of the league. A real "hidden gem." Definitely has a great shot at being the best fifth starter, which I guess is what you would call him. (Zito costs too much to be a #5 even tho he is currently pitching more like a #6)
