No Call Back for Tim?

The Giants continued their road trip into Yankee Stadium tonight, but failed to keep up the winning as they dropped the series opener, 5-1. The difference was a grand slam by none other than Alex Rodriguez.  To which I say, gag me with a spoon.  Oh well, just throw this on the pile of nasty losses in 2013.

Given that the Yanks are likely suitors, I'm thinking that Tim may have blown his audition tonight.  Hard to say. What do think?  It started well, Soriano was all over him but Cano looked pretty bad.  Sabathia was matching Lincecum inning for inning, almost like it was five years ago. Tim may have simply run out of gas, the 120 count is well above his average. I thought he was coming out about three batters earlier. Still, it all came down to Alex Rodriguez and that ridiculous HR swing. Does that happen a lot at that stadium?

Or was it THE DRUGS? That's it, isn't it?  It was a steroid aided grand slam.  Had to be.  So that's what one of those look like.

I know a lot of people don't like A-Rod, but he's a hell of a ballplayer. He's going to beat you sometimes. And he's going to pass Willie Mays on the career homer list, too.

Tim probably should have been yanked after the hit batsman. Then again, the 'pen hasn't exactly been sharp on the road trip. I don't know if Tim was auditioning for anyone, but Kontos certainly was. He needed to keep the ball in the yard in that situation. It was a tough spot, Yankee Stadium has a short porch, A-Rod's one of the greatest hitters of all time, but no one said pitching in the bigs was easy. I hope George can get another shot to show what he can do. He looked like a sure thing not long ago, but has really struggled this season. At age 28, it's probably "fish-or-cut-bait" time for him.

I hate it when the bullpen gives away games. I suppose Tim had reached the end but he sure couldn't have had a worse result than Kontos. It wasn't actually a bad pitch to A Rod but you can't pitch outside to right-handed sluggers at Yankee Stadium.

Tim had set it up. but when he put in ex-Yankee Kontos, to pitch to ARod, I knew we were doomed.

Today, Saturday, interesting how the yankee pitcher is getting the low strike, and Vogelsong is not.
