Trophy Time, Part Two!

Love the socks!

JC and his lovely bride Robyn.

It doesn't get old.

Me (on the right) and Sue and our pals Rick and Nancy Meredith. Sue's got the 2010 cap and I've my 2010 t-shirt on underneath, just peeking through, and the 2014 cap.

Good job noticing the socks! The camera guy spotted them and took an extra picture of us with Robyn's foot on a step. A Redding Searchlight photog took some shots of me and wrote down my name but we havent seen them used yet. Like the other times (teehee other times!) it was completely enjoyable and mellow. More high tech this year for sure, walked out with pictures in hand!
I got to thanks Mr. Rodriquez (is that right?) for helping make it happen again. What a nice guy and great Giants fan.
Oh yea, I was a scofflaw and I touched all three of the trophies while they were dealing with Robyn's socks. Just a quick finger tip touch on the base as I acted like I was leaning in for a closer look. After the third (I'm pretty sure I went in order) I glanced up to a scalding glare from one of the girls that took pics on personal cameras. I figured it was a small price to pay. And, yes, I'm already planning how to pull off a quad touch. I figure Robyn will have to provide a doozy of a distraction!

Yeah I thanked Mike Rodriguez as well and told him "was THE MAN!" Should have got a photo.

Blanco avoids arb and gets 2 years and I'm happy.

Interesting comparison between Nick Markakis and Nori Aoki on FanGraphs. Oddly enough they are very similar.

Markakis got 4 yrs and $45M but Aoki was under the radar and got MUCH less. (Apparently he took less and only a one-year deal because he wanted to come to SF.) Markakis, of course, has dingers on his resume, perhaps that's the difference. Note that their recent SLG% are pretty close, however. Aoki won't hit HRs and Markakis will hit a lot less than $45M worth.

Seems the Giants know what they are doing!

I want to recommend that fabulous image of the three trophies (thanks J&R!) for your new desktop background. I have made the leap, and at this point, I'd rather fight than switch.

Max Scherzer to the Nats? I guess losing the LDS to the wild card team means you better improve your rotation. Bring 'em on, I say.

"Free-agent pitcher Max Scherzer has agreed to a seven-year contract with the Washington Nationals . . . The deal is for $210 million with half deferred, according to multiple reports. Scherzer reportedly will receive $15 million annually for 14 years. The deal also includes a record $50 million signing bonus . . ."

ESPN story.

Well, OK. I guess the deferred money is to keep some payroll flexibility. J Zimmerman, Fister, Span and Desmond are all FAs in 2016. Strasburg, Rendon, Harper, Werth, and now Scherzer are all Boras clients!

Does this mean they are in a "win-now" mode? :-)
