The Giants had been 0-for-July until last night's tidy win. A strong start from Alex Cobb and the three-headed relief monster (The Brothers Rogers and Camilo Doval) snapped the four-game losing streak. There wasn't much in the way of highlights with the Giants barely eking out their two runs but the combined shutout was nice to see. Wilmer Flores had three hits and Luis Matos had two plus a walk.
It's an off-day today and then there's a three-game set against the Rockies before next week's All-Star Break. Friday is a night game (7:15 PT) while Saturday and Sunday are both day games (1:05). The rotation has not been announced but Logan Webb pitched Monday so I expect we'll see him on Saturday.
Go Giants!

Good piece from Jay Jaffe at FanGraphs about Patrick Bailey.
I like this bit:
He’s done a great job against the running game, with pop times to second base averaging 1.87 seconds. He’s thrown out 12 out of 31 stolen base attempts for a 39% success rate, nearly double the league average of 20%
So far so good for Bailey. Bart is finally starting to hit down in Sacramento. Reciprocal shutout rule finally worked for the giants. The Marlin's whose record is defying the pathagoreon theory have been outscored this year, but have a significant winning record. They won again yesterday on a freak play with 2 men on, and one out, a grounder back to the pitcher, he airmails the ball to first way into the outfield and both runs score on the error giving the Marlins another 1 run win 10-9. Never saw St. Louis play this poorly. The giants best hope for getting into the playoffs may be winning the division. The dodgers pitching staff has been plagued with injuries but they expect to get some of their guys back in the second half. The giants have also been plagued by injuries and when their injuries are on the lower side they seem to win. Nice to see Cobb have decent stuff yesterday and that Doval only had a one game hiccup. Hoping the giants can now beat a below 500 team and enter the break on a winning streak. The giants seem to struggle against the poorer teams, but so far no so much the Rockies. Lets them keep it that way.
The Giants are in a tough race. They could finish with a good record and just miss out on the wild card. Fortunately neither AZ nor LA are running away with the West and SD is struggling so it should be fun down the stretch.
