Giants Fight Back

The Giants were staring into the Coors Field Hellmouth for the second night in a row but Rockies Slayer Buster Posey led the way and the visiting squad triumphed over the forces of chaos and evil. My goodness but the lad is hitting well lately. I blame it on Andrew Susac. You think Buster wants some whippersnapper whipper-snapping him? Certainly not. And if he has to slug .600 to prove it, by gum, he will. You have to love the other rook, too. Joe Panik is straight rakin' it! Last week the starters kicked ass, this week it looks like the 'pen's turn. Five innings, one run allowed. Meanwhile Colorado's 'pen gave up six runs in a mere 2-2/3--that sort of thing I like. What else do I like? How about an errorless game? And Gregor Blanco finding his stroke again after a slow start?

Vogie tomorrow afternoon. GO GIANTS!

Not only has Susac spurred on Posey, but every time Sandoval catches Buster in average, Sandoval has a bad game, and Posey goes nuts to go back up. ESPN has Pence with 19 homers. I thought he had 20. Whats up with that. Cain could only wish he could get this type of run support.

Coors Field giveth and it taketh away.
Petit stank yesterday, so Tim better keep working on his issues, because he may be needed after all.

Did you see this bit of Jake Peavy singing "Pancho and Lefty"?

Great song, of course, but he (and Flann) does a surprisingly good rendition!

Just in case you needed some more TVZ.

My wife's favorite version: Emmylou Harris.

100 runs scored for Hunter Pence: best in baseball!

Although I think Stanton and Kershaw are probably the leaders for MVP, both Pence and Posey are throwing themselves into the mix. I don't know if Panik will have enough AB's for consideration as Rookie of the year, but he seems to be the new Scutaro. Whatever happened to Freddie Sanchez.

Its time we beat up on an amercan league team in an american league park. Too bad, Morse, our presumed DH is hurt. I guess Posey could DH,to try to keep him fresh. Worried that Ishikawa's temporary hot streak is over. I like some of our young arms. but as the minor league record shows, a bit of better control would go a long way.

We have a losing record for the season against Colorado, the second worst team in the major leagues, currently without a bunch of their stars. That is not comforting. We got lucky in that we picked up 1/2 game for winning the suspended game and did not give any up thanks to Washington.

We can't beat every lousy team every year, there's randomness in everything, every good team has a bad team that beats them.

For example, the Giants actually dominated a lot in 2010, but their problem most of the year was that the Padres were beating them big time head-to-head. Had they played .500 instead, they would have won the division running away instead of battling to the last days.
