The Dodgers jumped on Anthony DeSclafani right away and chased him from the game. Giants relievers couldn't keep it close and didn't get much help from the lineup. It was a crappy game--let's leave it at that.
Everything gets decided on Thursday night in San Francisco. Game Five is at 6:07 Pacific. I suppose we all knew it would come to this. It's the 167th game for both clubs and the 24th match-up of the season.
Logan Webb will get the start against Julio Urias. The Giants will play much better when they are back home and it should be an incredibly exciting game. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also happy about the off-day. These contests are exhausting.
GO GIANTS!!
BEAT LA!!

In 1951 and 1962 the giants beat the dodgers after looking as if the Dodgers were going to take it. The giants came from behind both times. What would make me very happy would be a giants blow out win. In 1993 when we were in a battle with Atlanta the bums ended our season with a blowout win of the giants. A blowout win for the giants would make me very baseball happy.
We have yet to see the Giants deliver a big offensive performance. Maybe that will happen on Thursday. I'd love to see something like Game 162 where they crushed the Padres!
I had a dream last night. Logan Webb pitched a complete game and the Giants offense woke up and kicked Dodger butt. It was a nice dream and then I woke up. Here's hoping my dream comes true! GO GIANTS!
That's a perfect dream. Let's hope they make it real!!
BTW it's the Dodgers 168th game (I forgot to add in WC).
We need some guys to bust out of their slumps:
- Longoria had the big HR on Monday, & a 1B yesterday. So, those were good signs.
- Wade had a 1B yesterday - a small sign of life. And, tomorrow, he's probably going to be restricted to 'Late Night Lamont' action, so that could suit him.
- Ruf, Yaz, & Dick don't look good at all right now. Yaz won't start, but Ruf will be in there, & needs to go back to being someone who approximates the Ruf of the Regular Season.
So, in my book, Ruf is key. Will he lead off again? If not Ruf, then who? Slater, while he has a couple of Hits in this Series, hasn't thrived in the leadoff role. Aside from Webb being Webb, solving this could be the biggest factor toward success tomorrow. I expect Wilmer to be back in the lineup, but w/ explicit instructions regarding baserunning judgement.
If we can sort out the above, along w/ which of our Relievers we can rely on, this has the potential to be an All-Time Classic.
Go Giants!!!!!
Yeah, I agree, the RH bats need to deliver. Ruf, Bryant, Slater, Posey, Longoria, etc.
They have their three best guys rested and ready--Webb, Gausman, and Doval. McGee looks like he's ready. Alvarez, too. The arms are there. I feel really good about tomorrow.
Giants have run barely ahead of the storm all year.
They are now in the harbor taking broadsides from the enemy alongside - trying desperately for the safety of the dock while negotiating their way thru the hidden reefs, shifting tides, unpredictable winds, and the rocky shore upon which so many have come to grief.
The skipper has a steady hand, and has the full confidence of his competent crew.
We wait and watch in breathless anticipation.
Dramatic Post-Season Poetry! Great! Go Giants!!!!!!!
I suppose it had to come down to this. It was one of the best, closest races ever. A spectacular season for the Giants. Kapler should be Manager of the Decade. Buster clinched a spot in Cooperstown. It's been a blast.
Wow, El that was so good I got a little sea sick.
Classic thinking says the team that scores first will win. Been the pattern too. So it probably won’t go that way.
I figure it will be extra innings… seems inevitable.
I think Ron is on to something. Ruf is the non Webb key to this game. Mark and I were gabbing and somehow we went from baseball to Squid Game to Korea to Ruf being the key. Make sense? I mean I’ve watched over 400 Korean excellent actors die on screen this week…honest, you know if you’ve seen an episode. That must be a sign.
