Memo to Sabes: turn off microphone

But, as Giants general manager Brian Sabean said appreciatively of Frandsen last month, "He's a baseball player."

Goddamn, I been wonderin' what the GM thought of our youngster, AND NOW I KNOW!!!!!!

Frankly, I'm relieved. I was beginnin' t'think he'd forgotten poor, young Kevin. But now that I know that he knows that Frandsen plays baseball (and not the fookin' pan flute, fer chrissakes), I can rest easy.

Why on earth does this goofy little rant deserve the coveted "dust bunnies" label?

What am I missing?

Sabes is pullin' those nuggets out of his arse, and ya got to dig out the dust bunnies aforehand, eh?

A recent note, Scott Rolen was traded for Troy Glaus in a midwestern, yet international, swap of third basemen. Tony LaRussa no longer has to suffer from whatever it was that peeved him about Scott Rolen, and Glaus gets to play on nice soft dirt. So just whom might give a FF, you may ask. It takes one speculative rumor off the table, that of a deal to bring Rolen to SF, discussed here some time ago. Of course, we do not know if this was ever any more than an unfounded rumor, it may not have been so much as a founded rumor. However, it is one less third baseman unassigned, and Pete Happy still lurks in the shadows, silently waiting.

Remind me again of that one good trade Sabean made early in his tenure. Seriously, I can't remember why this guy ever got a good reputation to begin with. As long as we don't trade any of our big 4 starters, I'll remain somewhat optmistic about his sanity. But, for Gods' sake, when are we going to do something??? I'd be OK with taking a chance on Eric Chavez. We seriously need some left-handed pop. We have nothing (Ortmeier, when he hits lefty, assuming he wins a job).

I like Chavez but he's signed through 2010 (club option 2011, I'll bet Beane lets him go). Can you imagine Sabes and Beane "workin' a deal?" Sheesh, talk about a mismatch. Too bad Glaus is off the market, too. I would have taken him in a heartbeat. "Silent, lurking" Pete is the #1 candidate for the hot corner, I hate to say. That's why I focus on pitching here at RMC.
