Yanks Slam Giants

NYY 6  SF 4
Catcher Gary Sánchez hit a grand slam in a 5-run 5th and that spoiled starter Derek Holland's outing this afternoon in San Francisco. Behind 6-0 in the 9th the Giants rallied for four runs before succumbing to Aroldis Chapman. At least they showed some life and didn't get shut out. Yangervis Solarte and Erik Kratz hit the late homers. Trevor Gott and Travis Bergen each threw two scoreless innings in relief of Holland.

The Bombers are making the local lads look like a not-ready-for-prime-time outfit. It feels like the 70s when the Dodgers would come to Candlestick and slap the Giants around with impunity. Re-building is painful.

D-Rod gets the call tomorrow. He's right-handed, maybe that will improve the odds. 1:05 Pacific.

GO GIANTS!

Maybe the giants when hitting, should treat every inning as if it were the ninth inning. Giants back to their usual ways of being feckless in the first inning. A bad bounce cost the giants their first run. Belt hit a scorcher which was caught on a hop stopping a giants rally as the first baseman made a nice play scooping up a bad throw. Also Maybin, not surprisingly hurting the giants. Holland needed to get the pitch a little more in, and little lower. I am not surprised that he would be looking for a pitch on the inside part of the plate. Besides that monster home run. it seemed that all the bounces seemed to go against the giants. Just bad luck on steroids. Yesterday too, with the double just over the outside of the bag. I thought the first hit, probably should have been an error on Longo, but that is via television. Pretty sure if Pablo played it like that they would have called it an error. Longo gets a reprieve there based on reputation. When it counted the yankees were willing to hit against the shift. The giants still rarely do that. Can we just play the ninth inning and forget about the first 8?

Mac Williamson seems to have found his stroke again. This may be the time to bring him up to the majors before he loses it again.

Be nice to see Mac get a shot. Who would go? Tyler Austin?
