The Giants waste a strong start from Dereck Rodriguez who faced 27 batters in his seven innings of work. He allowed only four hits and one walk and struck out five (101 pitches). One of the hits was a solo homer by Manny Machado. The offense managed seven hits (by seven guys) but scored just one run on a solo shot by Kevin Pillar. Reyes Moronta pitched a scoreless 8th and Will Smith gave up a run in the 9th.
The Rockies come to town for four games starting tomorrow. Both teams have scored a paltry 38 runs, but the Giants have given up 47 compared to the Rockies 69. That minus-31 difference is the worst in MLB. They have lost five in a row and are one-half game behind the Giants for last place. Jon Gray is listed for Colorado but the home team starter is still TBD on the website. It's Jeff Samardzija's turn as he last pitched on Saturday.
GO GIANTS!

1/9 with risp today.
the team just seems to have bad luck. Machado's shot called a dinger. How many times have the giants hit the edge of the green overhand in right field and the call has not been a home run? I have seen it several times myself. Also, I know Kratz is almost as old as Bernie Sanders, but I am sure that Bernie would have slid into home, to try to score that run. Giants are barely over the Mendoza line as a team, and they seem to be snake bit, with bad luck and questionable calls to top it all off. I guess when a team is going bad, that is the way things go. If the giants are to be a decent team this year, they will continue to pitch nicely when they start hitting. If they are going to be a bad team, as soon as they start scoring more runs, the pitching staff will fall apart.
A team that is worse than we are is here. Let's start our comeback by winning this game.
Luck has a way of evening out over the course of the year, I think, that's why they play 162 games. Let's hope we see some luck change this weekend. They have to beat Colorado, fre chrissakes. The Rockies were 12-7 against the Giants last year. Yuck!
It should be noted that the Boston Red Sox are 3-9, in last place, and a minus-28 run difference!
A member of the Giants ownership group died. His family retains the stake in the team.
The comment is from Rob Dean, the new Face of the Franchise. He's the one from Siskiyou County.
Anyway, lots of changes keep happening in Giants Land!
