I got home in time for the last two innings. The Giants had the winning run thrown out at the plate in the 9th but had a two-run rally in the 10th to win their 50th game. Steven Duggar scored from first base on a double by Curt Casali to end it. The two teams combined for 374 pitches thrown! That's two straight from the Athletics, five in a row, and ten wins in their last eleven games.
Sammy Long today at 1:05 Pacific. Go Giants!

p.s. No fifty-one today. A's jump on Sammy Long and hold on for a 6-2 win. Lefty Cole Irvin dominated, throwing eight scoreless innings. Giants go to Los Angeles for a two-game set. Tomorrow night at 7:10 it's Trevor Bauer and Anthony DeSclafani.

Wow.........Great game. Saturday night. Oracle Park. Full house and a come from behind, walk off win. The crowd was amazing as was the outcome. Go Giants!
This team gets more interesting every day. They continue to play good baseball. The injuries have piled up (Belt might need surgery) but they always seem to plug someone in who can deliver.
There's a breakdown on FanGraphs about Anthony DeSclafani and the things he's doing this year. Mostly throwing his changeup more, and locating in the zone, especially to lefties, who make a lot of weak contact. And throwing his slider more, and finding a sort of happy place with it--less vertical movement but more velocity--that gets more grounders.
And how about Steven Duggar? He has really put his game together and is finding lots of ways to help the team.
Remove that one game where DeSclafani gave up 10 runs in under 3 innings, and his numbers are not that far behind Gausman's. The stats from that one game may have cost in 1 WAR. I was almost hoping that Casali would be catching Long's game, but Buster is back. First to 50 games. I hope we do not have a repeat of 2016, and that this team finds ways to continue to win despite the injuries. During this 10 of 11 win streak, the giants have made more errors than they have in any spurt, but they continue to rise above the situation, and overcome the obstacles.
