Stinker

LAA 8  SF 1

The Giants played a stinker tonight. They haven't played many of those. Alex Wood looked like Alex Wood for two innings and then the wheels came off. Four walks and a hit batter with a few hits sprinkled in and it was 4-0 Angels. Matt Wisler poured gas on the fire and it was 8-0. Angels southpaw starter Andrew Heaney was tough (6-1/3 IP, 5 H, 1 R 1 W, 7 K) and he also had a hit, a walk, and a run scored.

I thought Curt Casali's struggles on offense (.104/.250/.119) would prompt a change and he was placed on the IL with a wrist strain. (Every MLB catcher has a wrist strain or two!) Chadwick Tromp gets the call-up, not Joey Bart. They like what Bart is doing at AAA and he is also just back from injury. Tromp is the emergency guy. Nick Tropeano, who finished up the win yesterday, goes back down. RHP Dominic Leone gets his shot. He's 29 and has 253 innings of ML-experience over seven seasons. Conner Menez is back. He took Scott Kazmir's spot who is on the "restricted" list for some personal issue. Tromp, Leone, and Menez all saw action tonight. Steven Duggar had two of the Giants six hits and scored their lone run.

Off-day tomorrow. The Cubs come to town for a four-game series starting Thursday night.

Go Giants!

Seems as both the offense, and the starting pitching took a day off. To suddenly lose it in the third inning, mostly after their pitcher got a hit, was daunting. Seems as if the Angels had back to back good hitting starting pitchers. Interesting that the giants beat some of the best pitchers in baseball, and then go against a guy with a plus 5 ERA, who has been giving up a lot of home runs, and barely can do anything. Baseball is a strange game. Hoping that Yaz and Longo can be back soon. Didn't Casali get hit on the wrist rather hard while he was taking an AB? Seems almost as if everytime Yaz leaps to make a catch against the wall in right field he gets hurt. Hoping that the Cubs can continue to win today against the Pads, and then run out of wins for a few days.

Giants cut ties with Shun Yamaguchi who is going back to Japan. Matt Frisbee gets the new spot at AAA.

Frisbee is a great name for a pitcher! I sure hope he throws a slider. :-)

What happened with Yamaguchi. Did he break some rules. I heard on TV that he was suspended, but did not see any explanation. Now he is gone.

I don't know. I think a Japanese club wanted him and the Giants were willing, but I've not seen any details.
