The Final Four

The New York Yankees are in Texas to open the ALCS with the Houston Astros. These are two evenly matched teams and it ought to be a close contest. The Astros have the home field and I suppose that gives them a slight edge. Both offenses are the top-rated in baseball. Tomorrow the Chicago Cubs open the NLCS in Los Angeles against the number-one seed Dodgers. The Cubs outlasted the Nationals in the LDS and won an epic Game Five on the road in DC. The Yankees also clinched on the road, surviving three elimination games against the Indians. LA certainly looks like the favorite in their matchup, especially since they are well-rested and have the home field. The Cubs won despite two superb starts from Washington ace Stephen Strasburg, we'll see if they can neutralize Clayton Kershaw as well. Should be some good baseball. Enjoy!

Red Sox fire John Farrell, it seems, for losing in the playoffs. What a luxury! Back-to-back division titles (not to mention a World Series win in 2013) and "you're fired!" I'm not sure changing the manager will make Chris Sale pitch better in Game One. Boston has to be one of the toughest media markets to work in, any manager going there has to be pretty thick-skinned. They dumped Terry Francona after two World Series wins, fer chrissakes.

I am an absolutely huge Houston fan. Go Stros!

They are certainly a likeable team. I wonder if they have the arms to go all the way. Then again, Cleveland had the best pitching staff and they got bounced. Speaking of bounces, it was amazing how the way the ball bounced mostly decided the Cubs-Nats game!

Not happy about the Cubs and the Dodgers, would have preferred Washington vs. Arizona. I think Houston has a better team than the Yankees, but I would not mind to see the Yankees, as baseball could do better with a very large market team with TV ratings, although post hurricane, it would be nice for Houston. One of my friends just moved from N.Y. to Houston. Should be a very interesting series for him. I do not want to see the Cubs repeat, but I do not want to see the dodgers in the World Series. Could be an interesting playoff and world series season, but not as interesting as a giants world series.
