Blanked

ATL 9  SF 0

Giants get a dose of their own medicine as they get shut out in Atlanta and the Braves take the series. It was an ugly loss and there have not been many of those. In games decided by five or more runs the Giants are 26-8 this year. It's been a month since the Giants lost a series--the Pirates took two of three July 23-25. After a 6-3 trip the team comes home to face the Brewers for four games and then three with the Dodgers on the weekend.

Johnny Cueto gets the start tomorrow night at 6:45 PT.

Go Giants!

Felt for the giants they were already packed and ready to leave. Once the Braves took the lead, it was all over. Felt it was a bit unfair to Deslafani, but the team seemed to want to get home and prepare for the next series. Although the opening game of a home series can be difficult after travel, I hope the team can muster up the energy to win this game. It was nice to see that the Rockies shutout the bums, in Los Angeles. I have noted a lot of recent criticism of Dave Roberts for putting his former MVP in the middle of the lineup when he has so far been unable to muster up the Mendoza line. It reminds me of when Posey kept being batted in Key RBI positions when he clearly was not himself. Dusty once said he had to manage the season as if it was (were) 4 quarters of a football game. Alou used to try to win every game he could. Seems as if Kapler is a bit of each but a tad more like Dusty when it comes to managing the season. Tough stretch for the giants continues, I hope they can more than pass the test.

Kapler very much believes in "win the game in front of you" and I agree with that sentiment. That doesn't mean "throw caution to the wind" but rather it means to be aggressive and not hold back. Don't let the fear of a future mismatch prevent you from a good matchup right now.
