Reds steal a win

CIN 4  SF 1

Logan Webb pitched another strong game but the Giants eked out a mere four hits, and scored their only run on an errant pickoff throw. The Reds run more than anyone in baseball, and they ran a successful double steal to score a second run in the 6th and that was all they needed. The Giants made it 2-1 in the bottom half but managed only a few walks the rest of the way. It was feeble. The Reds played like they did not want to get swept. It was another missed opportunity in what feels like a season of missed opportunities.

The team travels to San Diego for four games. The first one starts tonight at 6:40 Pacific. There are 29 games left--a perfect time for a big winning streak.

Go Giants!

The gamblers that bet on baseball can bet on the giants on Tuesday nights at home and feel fairly sure that their money is being well spent. On Wednesday especially when Webb is pitching against basically a fourth starter, and the odds are heavily in the giants favor, the smart bets are 1. to bet against the giants, and to bet the under on an over under bet. The giants just refuse to hit when Webb is pitching. The guy leads the league with 19 quality starts and yet he is changing the meaning of being Cained. His run support is absent. Perhaps they partied a bit too hard after Cobb's masterpiece, but the lineup was almost completely different. A nice play by Cincy with runners on by their second baseman against Bailey was a key play. The giants no lead the N.L. in errors with 90, and only generous scorekeeping has kept it as low as 90. With the team OPS at 700, it is amazing that they are in the playoff race.

Yes. I think Kap should get some credit for that. He's kept the team together despite all the roster holes, injuries, and poor performances. They have a real shot at the playoffs despite serious weaknesses. And the rookies! So many damn rookies! It's a miracle that they can compete with so many raw, inexperienced players.
