The Giants looked absolutely feeble for eight innings and I remember getting really frustrated with their lack of hitting. Then the Rockies young closer walked three in the 9th and it escalated from there. Four runs later the Giants had a one-run lead. Camilo Doval made it exciting in the bottom half but managed to nail down the save.
It was an amazing comeback win in a season of crazy finishes. The Rockies are historically bad (12-54, .182) and a team with post-season dreams needs to whup on bad teams.
Casey Schmitt is the new third baseman as Matt Chapman hits the IL with a forearm injury. He had two hits including a homer. Willy Adames had a homer, a walk, and a sac fly.
Tomorrow's game is at 5:40 PT and Robbie Ray gets the ball.
Go Giants!

After the dp, I thought doval got out of the inning with a 2-2 pitch called strike 3. It seemed to upset him not getting the call as he then walked a guy and gave up blooper to yaz. But he tranquillo-ed it and got the save. I have found the home plate umping the last week of so has deteriorated a bit. But in many games at leastnit does not seem one sided. A few nights ago though Boston got screwed in extras on a full count the ball was not even close so instead of loading the bases and one out there was 2non and 2 out. They ended up losing a Close game in extras. There were also some bizarrely poor calls in the Cubs Phillies series. I thought through April and May the home plate calling of balls and strikes was the best it had been in years.I guess the June heat is starting to get to the boys in blue.
Bailey goes on the IL. Giants promoted C Logan Porter. He's 29 and has 600 G in the minors and college but only 11 G at MLB level.
