That's because of Max Muncy, mostly. Kyle Tucker and the bottom of the Dodgers lineup chipped in, too.
Was it folly to hope for a sweep? Perhaps. Tyler Glasnow cut down the Giants like my self-propelled electric mower cuts the grass: smoothly, quickly, quietly.
Logan vs. Shohei: groundout, strikeout, strikeout, GIDP. (Blade Tidwell got him on a flyout in the 9th to make it an Oh-for-five.) At least there's that.
Otherwise Webb is still getting dinged. I think his command is a wee bit off. He's walking more guys. In general it just seems like he's not locating as well. His game depends on ground balls and that requires fine-tuned placement. And it also seems like his top-of-the-zone four-seamer isn't working. He got a lot of strikes and strikeouts with that pitch last season. He needs something like that to balance his arsenal of bottom-of-the-zone sinkers, sliders, and change-ups.
The Giants missed an opportunity. But, there's a new team coming in and that's the Miami Marlins. Adrian Houser is lined up for tomorrow night (7:15 Pacific). It's day games for Saturday and Sunday, both at 1:05, and we'll see Robbie Ray and the Landen Roupp.
Go Giants!

Brewers DFA Luis Matos.
Wow, ya gotta think he will be able to contribute to some team this year.
I think they made a mistake with Matos. They used him for a platoon guy. He has not been particularly better against lefties than righties. To me he is a guy who needs to be out there everyday, and get in a groove. Once he gets in a groove and has his timing, he can be a formidable presence in the lineup. These teams are trying to turn him into something that he is not. Not sure about the DFA of Fitzgerald. If anything, he is a plus fielder, and has serious speed. Maybe they cannot straighten him out at the plate, but I would think that someone can.
Evidently they saw enough with 21 PA: 4 singles, 7 whiffs, 1 walk.
I'm assuming it is the underlying metrics. Of the 13 balls put into play only 3 were what FanGraphs calls "hard hit" (EV of 95 mph or more). MLB has a classification called "barrels" and none of his batted balls hit that status. (It's a varying stat, depending on EV and launch angle and etc.)
His average Exit Velocity (and highest EV) are both career lows. In fact all his Statcast numbers are at career lows, things like bat speed, "fast swing" percentage, "square-up contact rate" (this is just a sample!!), etc. Statcast measures A LOT of crazy stuff.
It's weird. I don't know why he's not able to put it together. Seems like he has all the tools. Baseball is a hard game, man.
Red Sox fired their manager, Alex Cora! That's a quick hook, man.
Something I say at FanGraphs (David Laurila):
San Francisco Giants batters have combined to hit 18 home runs, tied for the fewest in the majors, and steal eight bases, the fewest in the majors. The team’s 91 runs scored is tied for the fewest in the majors.
That's "saw" at FG!
