Schadenfreude

I don't normally like to take joy in the misfortune of others but it's the fecking Dodgers and they got their fookin' asses whooped and I'm pretty fucking stoked.

Best rotation in baseball, right? Skubal five-and-dive with two runs allowed, Yamamoto can't make three and gives up three, Snell coughs up bombs and the lead in the seventh, and Glasnow blows up after four in the decider. Wow. That was some serious work by the Brewers--they beat a really great pitching staff.

No matter what happens in the ALCS we will get one of those great World Series matchups with two deserving teams. Milwaukee last had a champion in 1957 with the NL Braves (who then moved to Atlanta in 1966). This franchise was the AL Seattle Pilots in 1969 and then the AL Brewers. They moved to the NL in 1998. The Rays of course have never won a World Series title (est. 1998) and the Guardians/Indians haven't won since 1948.

I don't like "dynasties" and I think the game benefits when more teams and more fans get a real shot at a championship. The Giants may have sucked in 2026 but the post-season (no NYY, no ATL, no LAD) is turning out rather nicely!

Seems as if the giants had more success against the brewers than the bums did.

SF 4 MIL 3 and LA 3 MIL 4 for the regular season! LA 0 MIL 4 for the post-season.

LA had bullpen issues going into the season, and rather than correcting them, went for the biggest name starter in Skubal (whom has now elected free agency). Yesy when they got to the postseason, they followed the trend in postseason pitching management, which is to go to your bullpen early and often. Look at how many games have used 7 or 8 pitchers per team. At some point, you sacrifice your starters to get to an overused relief staff. Notice how Tampa Bay avoided that yesterday and let Rasmussen go 7. Well, it couldn't have happened to a nicer team.

Seems as if Dave Roberts let himself fall into a bit of a pitching trap.

I think you have to give the Brewers credit for the "breakdown" of the LA pitching staff. They worked all those guys and forced them to throw a lot of pitches and disrupted the Dodgers strategy. I don't think LA did anything "wrong." They just got beat.

Good point. The Brewers are a very good team that played great games.

Hey! The team with the best record in the American League is going to play the team with the best record in the National League in the World Series. Just like the old days. Without researching it, I think this is the first time that's happened since the advent of the playoffs.

Not as if one couldn't see it coming. I posted on another site, that with all the dodger starters, and the overworked relievers, he might consider putting 2 starters aside for each game. Something different, but something that could have worked, maybe.
