The Giants beat the Brewers 3-1 for their fifth straight win behind a brilliant effort by Jake Peavy who took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. Unlike last night's rout, this was a taut affair that stayed close until the final out. Giants starters have done a Peavy-to-Peavy run through the rotation and have six fine starts (Game Scores of 61, 98, 77, 69, 67, 82) to show for it, allowing only seven runs. Santiago Casilla was touched for a run tonight as he was on Wednesday, those being the only allowed by the 'pen over the same stretch. With the Dodgers losing in extras to the Padres tonight the Giants are 2-1/2 back in the West. We've been waiting, hoping and praying that the team would put together a streak of good baseball and you have to like this stretch. Clutch hitting and some big fielding plays sealed the deal and the Giants get another big win against a tough team and have a chance to sweep the series.
Madison Bumgarner, fresh off a one-hitter, gets the start tomorrow afternoon.
GO GIANTS!

On Monday, September 1 in Colorado, the May 22 suspended game will be played. The score is 2 - 2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th with one man on first. After the conclusion of that game, the Giants have another game to play. David Huff was on the mound for San Francisco, Michael Cuddlier was on base. Of note, Cuddyer is on the DL, Huff is a Yankee. Also, on September 1, rosters expand. I understand that the managers will have to meet to determine the rules. So it is kind of a start and a relief appearance all in one, for someone. Might be a spot for Tim Lincecum?
Holy fuck, Jamey Wright recorded the L for LA. The guy must be nearly as old as I am. I had him on a fantasy team at least 15 years ago.
I was thinking the same thing, but he has been bad in Coors in the past. Be better to go with Kontos as long as he can go, then Machi.
I was amazed to see Wright was still playing, even more so for LA. Yeah, really old but still kicking around somehow. Hey, that means 2.5 games back then, right?
Oops, sorry, read the comments first... Yeah! 2.5 back!
I am getting a vibe like that great run in 2010 and 2012, when they took the lead and never gave it back.
I think the odds are stacked against MadBum painting another masterpiece Sunday. The Brewers are damn good and probably pissed off. Also, we field funky lineups on Sundays so don't be surprised if Ishikawa, Arias, Duffy and Susac are starting.
I liked the look of Crawford's hit in the 4th that scored Morse. One of those "drop the bat head and go to right" hits. It has been a long slump for him and this hit looks like he sees the ball and controls his bat. Hope there are a lot more coming.
Especially after the little (well, big) scare in the 9th, I was really hoping that the title of the the post-game post would be 'We Won't Get Peaved Again'!
Perhaps another time later this season - anything that infers a Giants win is good!!!!
