Vlog 22 "A Rotten Weekend in San Diego"

5-3 loss in SD

The All-Star break may give our boys a nice rest but it has also caused a break in the JohnnyC Joy and, well....winning.  I sure hope this is a brief break but a nasty Roadtrip ahead could be ugly.  Stay calm and watch the Vlog:

Pathetic. Not you, the team.

With 20 games in a row and no off-days and lots of subs in the lineup the Giants go 13-7. Now they have all this time off and look terrible! I say no more holidays--work, work, work, no breaks. That'll bring back the magic.

Too bad we have 2 off-days this week, Mark (how did that happen???). Perhaps we should have intra-squad scrimmages on the off-days, just to stay sharp.

How did this happen? We lose to shitty Teams often, but usually not this particular one. For starters, it usually feels like a home game, when we play there, because Giants' fans are in the majority.

The deal for a Relief Pitcher can't come soon enough.

The MLB did this to them this year. Normally there would be an overabundance of off days in April, but instead the Giants were worked hard with few days off. But those days off has to come sometime, and it came now, 3 in 8 days, after 3 days off for the ASG. If there was a convention or something, then I would understand odd schedules, but it seems like they were doing it just to screw with our chances.

So far, they have been wrong, until now.

I hope our G's can turn this funk around after going 0-4 from the jump.

Each year I review this exact scenario, for tough scheduling. So far, the Giants have been spectacular in these tough travel segments. And also some tough opponents. 30-15 record in the 30 away games and 15 at home during these spans...

17-8 record: 5/27 to 6/23 was 25 games in 28 days with 17 away/8 home.
13-7 record: 4/29 to 5/19 was 20 games in 21 days with 13 away/7 home.

I really don't love the schedule through 8/25. And there are enough sprinklings of strong teams down the stretch. My concern is any setbacks, further injuries, not getting enough impact via trade deadline, and whether our callups might be reasonable enough to help this season. Basically, depth and health- but what team doesn't have the same possibilities? I know, not exactly a glowing endorsement. But hey, if somehow the Giants can win it all this season, I'll actually buy into the "even year" thing! Dream big...

Giants lost 8 of 9 in April and 4 of 5 twice in June. They'll bounce back. I've been wondering if/when the Dodgers would get hot, they seem to be there right now. You know there will be bad stretches, that's inevitable. Let's just hope they rebound before LA makes it too close for comfort.

Manager has to get these guys going after the all star break. Wed game has a bit of east coast umpire bias. Before the rally bringing the score back to 8-7, Williamson was K'd on a pitch a foot of the plate. Costing us an out and a base runner. If that call is ball 4, and things unfold they way they did, we would have at least tied it if not gone ahead. Then with the bases loaded for some reason Bochy pinch hits the lefty Blanco for the righty power hitting Williamson. ON the ground out the play at the plate, in real time, looked like he may have been out, in slow motion he was safe, and I fully expected N.Y. to overturn the call and have the game tied up with on out. Instead the call stood, it was two outs and we ended up not scoring. Posey continues to absolutely not come through in two out runners in scoring position situations. If he would come through at just a 250 batting average in those situations the giants would have at least 3 more wins this season.
