Giants snap streak

SF 7  ARI 5

The Giants came from behind to win their first game in the month of July! Whew. The losing streak ends at six (that's the second six-game losing streak of the season). Tonight's game against the Padres in San Diego (6:40 PT) marks the half-way point--game 81. Logan Webb matches up with Joe Musgrove.

Go Giants!

Anthony DeSclafani goes to the 60-day IL (he's having ankle surgery and is out for the year) so that opens a spot on the 40-man roster. That means a spot for a fucking new guy! This time the Giants get a RHP from Cleveland (for cash, no player was traded) named Tobias Myers.

Myers will be 24 in August. The Giants are his fourth organization after being drafted out of HS by the Orioles. He's had a solid minors track record but at AAA-Columbus this season he's been getting clobbered. He's always been a starter. Right now he's minor-league depth for the River Cats but I could see the Giants trying him out as a swing man. We'll see!

This year too many guys off the trash heap and too many guys coming off of injuries has left the starting rotation in a bit of shambles. Using bullpen games every 5th day or so, leads to an overworked bullpen. We all saw how an overused bullpen last year caused the Padres to completely fade in September. This year the Pads are trying not to overwork their bullpen. The giants however, have not been so lucky nor strategic. This lack of starting pitching depth can only be placed on Farhan. Finding stars off of the trash heap can only go so far. Yesterday the giants supposedly hit their first pinch hit dinger this year. That sounded wrong, but maybe it is correct. A winning streak now will help to save the season.
