Go Giants!

The Giants resume their season tonight in Los Angeles. Southpaw Carlos Rodón gets the start and the Dodgers counter with righty Mitch White. The Giants played better baseball just before the Break and the question is, can they sustain that over the final 71 games? The gap between the second-place Padres (52-42) and the third-place Giants (48-43) is only 2-1/2 games. That can change in a weekend. That's the team goal right there: overtake the Padres. One team at a time! It will take more consistency from the club than we've seen so far this season. I think we all want to see a more consistent team. The Giants have been all over the map in terms of performance and it's hard to know which version will show up each game.

Game time is listed as 7:09 p.m. Pacific.

GO GIANTS!

BEAT LA!!

Giants just signed Trevor Rosenthal. Major league deal worth $4.5M. He's rehabbing a hamstring injury and goes to the 15-day IL. I think we know now who the closer is going to be!

Mauricio Llovera was on the 15- but now goes to the 60-day IL and that makes a spot on the 40-man for Rosenthal.

Rosenthal used to be a beast. He has not pitched since 2020. He's been recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome, which is some kind of nerve compression/damage thing. Alex Cobb is a player who has recovered from that surgery.

FZ and Co. must believe Rosenthal can still pitch. Certainly the Giants can use a reliable and experienced closer. We'll see if he can be that guy.

Oh, he also had a torn labrum! That's why he was out for two seasons.

Wow, this team is full of surprises.

Rosenthal held a showcase in June. At the time it was reported that the Blue Jays, Mets, and Marlins were interested. The Giants were apparently in their ninja outfits.

defense and relief pitching continue to disappoint. Also for some reason the giants really do not get the same strike zone as the dodgers or the braves. There has to be a reason, it happens way too often. Would like to see the data, but just by watching it seems super obvious.
