Giants hang in there

 SF 5  CHW 3

It went from a comfy 5-1 lead to a nail-biting 5-3 edge but they got the job done and won a game they needed to win. At this point they need to win every damn game. Kyle Harrison got through six with minimal damage and was well supported by the lineup's four-run outburst in the 5th. Things got a little shaky with the relief corps but they held on. Jordan Hicks was tossed into the closer role after Ryan Walker's two-inning effort yesterday and he delivered despite two hits and a blown double play.

Robbie Ray gets the start tomorrow night (6:45 PT).

Go Giants!

Brutal inning for Bivin's on totally via the umpires. First guy grounds out to short. A little hitch in Fitzgeralds throw and the batter is called safe. Slo-Mo replay showed that the ball beat him. Giants went for the overturn. Again, N.Y, essentially screws the giants. So instead of one out, man on first, Then the next batter flies out for one out. Should be 2 outs. Then next batter on what looked like an easy called strike 3, for the third out, Bivins' gets the bad call, and on the next pitch the guy doubles right on the line. So runners on second and third one out, instead of being out of the inning. Next guy lines out to Conforto, on a nice play by Conforto for a Sac Fly, 5 to 2, then a bloop hit 5 to 3, and Bivins ends up being charged with 2 earned runs, totally umpire aided. That is baseball. Just seems to happen way too often to the giants. In the end, the giants held on to another torturous win. Back over 500. Of course the Dbacks win, and the Padres and Dodgers win. Pederson has an OPS over 950.
