The Giants beat another good team with another strong pitching performance. Robbie Ray is the most obvious trade candidate (other than Luis Arraez) and he has pitched well of late. Last night he whiffed six over six frames with only one run allowed. He has a 1.67 ERA over his last nine appearances. It seems he's been putting on a showcase for potential suitors these last several weeks.
The bullpen, this year's glaring weak spot, was solid once again with three scoreless innings (Caleb Killian, Dylan Smith, Erik Miller). Andrew Susac had another homer.
The Giants have indicated they would pay to offset some of Ray's salary in a potential trade.
Carson Whisenhunt gets the start tonight (6:45 Pacific). Go Giants!

Seems as if Carson Whisenhunt was tipping his pitches.
Everything about the pitching this year has been below par. I feel like other teams have picked up on the sequencing. The Giants are predictable, the opposing hitters are not surprised or off-balance. The scouting reports on Giants pitchers are dead-on and teams are not afraid of any of them.
Tipping pitches is a coachable, fixable thing. Just like improving pitch selection and staying ahead of the opposing hitters, both literally in game counts and figuratively in pre-game prep. I feel like everybody is floundering. They entire coaching apparatus for the pitchers needs a hard look. It's not just the lousy performances, it is the lack of any consistency or predictability. These guys are all over the map from appearance to appearance.
TonyV may just be relying too much on his staff, being a rookie and all, he's no doubt had some "in over his head" moments. This pitching failure isn't a talent problem as far as I can see. It's an execution problem.
The Dustin Meccage/Christian Wonders/Frank Anderson triumvirate may just have to be broken up and something/someone new brought in.
Harrison Bader is obviously an idiot. He was "re-habbing" with fucking plantar fascitis, supposedly, but somehow he was in a "scooter accident" and got re-injured!!
OMFG it's like teaching HS. These guys LOOK like grown men but ACT like fucking adolescents.
Apparently they are "suspending" his pay! Well, duh. I think they should cut him loose. We've got an all-glove, no-hit guy already (Grant McCray) for CF.
When one has plantar fasciitis, it is not surprising that one would get around on a scooter, because of the pain of excess pressure on one's foot when walking or standing. Has anyone explained the details of the accident? It must have been bad, as they have suspended him without pay.
Ballplayers don't do well when they are given big-boy toys. They need a "handler" or a nanny.
Anyway, the Giants traded Tyler Mahle and got a relief pitcher (24-year old RH Anthony Molina, originally signed by Tampa Bay as a 17-year old out of Venzuela).
A (at least recently) decent or slightly better than decent starter for a reliever who has a - 0.1 2026 WAR. That says volumes about the Giants staff. The Giants yet again have demonstrated that there is no such thing as momentum in their 2026 season. A victory, a weak offense, a relief failure, and a feeble start. Same old script. Meanwhile, LA signs Skubal, because of course they do. We live in a hellscape where the richest are picking the pockets of everyone else and we are encouraged to celebrate their theft.
Ha. It does sound reasonable to get around on a scooter after a foot injury. But most people don’t run their scooter into the back of a SFFD fire engine at 2 am. Allegedly.
And if bystanders reports are to be believed…said engine then rolled over Bader’s foot!?! Incomprehensible That sounds too ridiculous to be believed…
Separating frozen hamburgers with a knife?
Crashing a dirt bike?
Wrecking your motorcycle?
This may take the cake of Giants injuries.
