For the second straight night a Giants starter had to leave the game due to injury. Adrian Houser was pulled in the 2nd and the 'pen had to scramble to cover innings. Like last night, it worked. Carson Whisenhunt will probably need TJS. Adrian Houser's injury doesn't seem as severe, thankfully.
FNG Anthony Molina stepped up with 4-1/3 scoreless frames. He faced 14 batters and retired 13. It was a clutch effort. The Giants played well in the field behind him and that really helped.
In the 9th Reds slugger Sal Stewart greeted Carson Seymour with a homer to close the gap and we all thought "here we go again." But he got the final three outs easily and the Giants moved a step closer to avoiding ignominy. Rafael Devers hit his 28th homer in the 5th.
Day game today (12:45), Landen Roupp Logan Webb is scheduled. Go Giants!

The dread of possibly blowing that game loomed large. Perhaps at some point the fans will gain confidence in Carson Seymour. At this time he still gives me the Willie's (not sure of the spelling). I don't want to get my hopes up, but having been a fan for what it seems like eons, I keep hoping that we can at least get one, 4 game winning streak this year. I cannot remember a giants team, no matter how bad, that could not muster up a 4 game winning streak. Can Roupp actually maintain control and pitch a winning game?
Four in a row. Even bad teams can do that but the 2026 Giants have yet to. It really points out the inconsistent pitching. From one game to the next we have no idea what these guys are going to do!
Wow. It's hard to believe today's game, even after all that's happened this season. I remember thinking in the bottom of the 8th that those three "extra" runs were gonna do it. It was enough.
I guess not.
Watching with my friend, after the 8th, he said at least even the giants won't blow this one. I said you obviously have not watched the giants this year. Plus Bivens has been horrible the last few weeks for the river cats, I hope they don't bring him out for the 9rh. Would rather have Pablo pitching. Disappointed but truly not surprised. This team has the yips on steroids.
Baggerly says that was the biggest 9th inning blown lead in franchise history.
wow
The Reds have apparently won three such games (trailing by six in the 9th) in their history, about 1900 games. The Giants were something like 2200-0 before yesterday.
That doesn't make sense. The Giants have played a few less than 22000 games. That would mean they have been up in the ninth by 6 runs a little more than 10% of their games.
