The Giants wasted a great start from Logan Webb who gave up a single run on a double play ball in eight innings of work. A double play ball ended things in the bottom of the 9th for the home squad, that was their best chance of winning the game. They also blew a two on, no out situation earlier in the game. What seemed like a taut pitchers' duel on a beautiful Sunday afternoon was really just another cruel exercise in finding new ways to lose.
Mike Krukow says he's retiring from broadcasting at the end of the season. He certainly had a great run in San Francisco both as a player and an announcer. Thanks for all the goofiness, Kruk. Good luck!
The Women's Pro Baseball League is now a real thing. They have a San Francisco club and Matt Williams is the manager. Something to keep an eye on.
The Astros are in town for three starting tomorrow night at 6:45 PT.
Go Giants!

This is Logan Webb’s 52nd start of 7+ innings since the start of 2023, 8 more than anyone else in MLB
If there is a way to lose the giants will find it. Last 6 batters K. Even though the giants as a team do not strike out a lot, (which is hard to believe), when other teams go into the strike out mode, the giants are more than susceptible. Kenly Jansen is always tough on young hitters who have not seen him. Two recommendations for the giants. Please get Eldridge a track or running coach in the off season. He needs to bat in an RBI slot, not lead off. If McCray has any chance to be a major leaguer, he has to become a contact hitter. With his speed it would work. Without it, he is toast. Also, why bat Adames third? Is it because he is the best option? If that is the case, the giants are toast. I mean more toast than they already are.
I like Eldridge batting leadoff. He has good strike zone skills. He can work a walk. For now, honing those skills as a leadoff hitter will just make him a better player overall. Kyle Schwarber bats leadoff, and he can't run at all. So I don't worry about the baserunning. He needs to establish himself as a hitter and then next year they can bat him second, like Judge. Or third. He can bulk up and add some pounds, too.
Yeah the speedy guys like McCray need to learn how to bunt and how to slap singles and etc, for sure. Buster says he wants contact hitters so we'll see how they develop.
Adames is likely going to spend the rest of his Giants tenure hitting 6th or lower. I think Tony V is trying to save some of his pride. Think Bruce Bochy slotting Bengie Molina into a high lineup spot! All Adames has to do to earn his pay is play decent SS, not get hurt, and hit about league average. Ideally he can do that from a lower spot next year when we have some players who can hit.
