Belt Bops Brewers

SF 9  MIL 6 (11)

Brandon Belt blasted two home runs, a solo shot in the 4th to tie the game, and a two-run bomb in the 11th that turned out to be the game-winner. The Giants struggled to score against Brandon Woodruff but a miracle triple from Tommy La Stella in the 9th tied it up and they forced it to extras. A big rally in the top of the 10th made it 5-2 Giants, but Jarlin Garcia gave up two homers in the bottom half and the Brewers tied it. Belt's homer and a two-out double by Kris Bryant made it 9-5 in the 11th so Jake McGee's run didn't matter. It's a huge win on the road against a very tough opponent. The Giants used their entire bullpen tonight.

Johnny Cueto tomorrow morning at 11:10 Pacific.

Go Giants!

Aaron Sanchez DFA'd. Didn't see that coming. I figure they'd want MORE starters, not fewer!

Brebbia recalled and Gausman is back, too. Thairo Estrada sent down (optioned to AAA).

There's an off-day tomorrow so maybe they start Gausman Tuesday and Wood Wednesday with Webb Thursday. Cueto is today so he comes back Friday. Everyone is on their fifth day.

But it looks like they'll need someone for Saturday (8/14). I don't know if DeSclafani will be back then, but he could be, his 10-day IL is dated from 8/3.

If so that sets up the last four games of the homestand nicely: Gausman, Wood, Webb, Cueto. Then they have an off-day on the 19th before going to Oakland. That would then be DeSclafani's turn on six days of rest.

Then it is 10 more games (with an off-day) until September. Maybe they think they can get through until the September call-up with the same five starters. They get to add two players, going from 26 to 28, I figure one would be a long man/spot starter.

I guess they have someone else in mind besides Sanchez.

I know I’ve said this before but this team makes unreal highlights. The last second “triple” is clearly an example of some kind of intervention. And a Buster extra inning studliness is always welcome.
Can this team keep it up? The wins and the highlights?

The triple was turned back to an error. Note the scoring changes to Saturday's game. The Sanchez move seems like an odd move.
