Webb keeps it going

SF 3  NYM 2

Logan Webb put up seven zeros and entered the 8th having thrown only 78 pitches and leading 3-0. Alas, he gave up a two-run homer to Pete Alonso to end his night, but it was another impressive start. He struck out eight in his 7-1/3 and got twelve ground ball outs. Tony Watson finished the frame. Jarlin Garcia got the call in the 9th and he put a runner on but got two outs. Dominic Leone whiffed Kevin Pillar to end it. Tommy La Stella put the Giants on the board in the 1st with a two-run homer and Evan Longoria added a solo shot in the 7th. Longo's blow came off starter Marcus Stroman who pitched really well but perhaps was left in a bit too long. He finished with 114 pitches. The Giants keep grinding out wins!

Anthony DeSclafani gets the ball tomorrow afternoon at 12:45 PT

Go Giants!

Good to see another giant with double digit home runs. I thought Webb threw the home run ball right to Posey's Mitt. I just think the pitch was executed but it was a bad idea. It all worked out. I do not have as much confidence in Garcia lately as I did earlier in the season. That was one wicked pitch Leone threw to end the game intentional or not. Unless something odd happens the pirates have not beat the dodgers in a couple of years. Would love to see Jansen blow the save and take the loss.

The 2017 Giants won 64 games.
The 2018 Giants won 73 games.
The 2019 Giants won 77 games.

The 2021 Giants have 78 wins. They also have 42 games left to play!

The Giants now have 9 players with double digit home runs. That is tied with teams from other years for the most players with at least 10. I would not be surprised if the Giants tie or break the team record for most players over 20.

On a less enthusiastic note, I think the fog uniforms, or whatever they are called, get worse looking every time I see them. I got a text this morning from a friend in a different part of the country who watched the Giants/Mets on MLB - he remarked on how ugly they were.

Those dumb uniforms are tolerable when the Giants are at bat because at least they have black helmets. But the red caps? No.
