The Giants blasted past the Mets and held on against a late surge to win their 77th game. Kevin Gausman worked hard to get through four scoreless and then had a lightning-quick meltdown in the 5th to turn a 2-0 lead into a 3-2 deficit. Kris Bryant homered in the 5th and again in the 7th and the Giants handed a 7-3 lead to Tyler Rogers. He gave up a quick two-run homer but got through the 8th and Jake McGee had a routine 9th to finish it off. That's only the second homer Rogers has yielded to a lefty in his career. Brandon Crawford was 4-for-4 and is now hitting .306!
Logan Webb tomorrow night at 6:45 Pacific.
Go Giants!

There seems to be a lot of "lightning quick meltdowns" recently. Wazzup with that? Crawford for MVP.
Crawford should get some votes for MVP but unless he keeps it going it is unlikely he will win it. If he keeps up the way he has since July 1, he will have a solid chance. It is not only that but there are other shortstops on winning teams in the mix. Posey has not played enough games to be our teams MVP. At least the way Crawford has been playing. Also the giants have a better winning percentage when Casali is catching with draws away from Posey's claim. Although one might say that Casali is so effective because of the Posey effect. Not sure I completely buy that. It is just good to know that we are more than halfway through the season and we have a player that is in consideration for MVP.
FanGraphs rates BCraw and Buster each at 4.1 WAR despite Crawford's 98 G (383 PA) to Posey's 78 G (314 PA). Baseball-Reference says BCraw 4.8 over a mere 2.9 for Buster!
I think BCraw is the team MVP and he and Posey are the two most indispensable players.
Tyler Chatwood called up. Jay Jackson goes down.
Chatwood's issue is walks. Career-wise he averages 4.7 BB/9.
