The Magic Disappearing Offense

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen!  See the eighth wonder of the world!  Or maybe the ninth!  Or, maybe, it's no wonder at all!  A team that scores 11 runs one night, and only 1 the very next!  Hurry!  Hurry!  Hurry!  See your ace get skunked by [fill in blank, doesn't much matter....]; see that winning attitude, that championship spirit, that confidence disappear into thin air!  See it before they're gone like yesterday's breeze.

Madison Bumgarner.  Pitched good.  7, 5, 2 and 7.  Lost.  Of course!  3 hits.  None got out of the infield.  None.  I know it's a "different" day, and a "different" team, except it's really not.  It's the magical 2017 San Francisco Giants.  Watch closely....Poof!  They're gone!  Were they really ever there at all?

I'm beyond words at this point. I commend you for your fresh take on the Giants continuing rotten-ness.

It gets worse. Belt is concussed and Darvish was an absolute stud for LA.

Yeah well the Darvish move was clearly the rich getting richer. They could win 110 games.

And what more abuse does Belt have to take? That guy has been really banged up in his career. Such a shame, the Giants don't really have any steady hitters besides Belt and Posey. Let's hope he gets well soon, if not for the Giants then for his own sake, his career and life after the game.

Giants have 51 games left. If they go 21-30 (.412) they'll finish 63-99 thus avoiding 100 losses. That's the only thing left for me to root for. I guess Panda will get his shot after all. He can't be worse than anyone else we've had to endure this season.

Just win 21 more games, Giants. That's all I want. Then we can bury the bones of this horrid year and look forward to next year.

Kontos waived, claimed by the Pirates. Kontos was a good pitcher who did a good job in orange-and-black and was part of two titles. Good luck to him.

Ron, was it you who said "veteran purge"? Makes sense, youngsters cost a lot less and have that elusive "upside" we all seek. Who's next? Clearly Cain will be released at the end of the season. Gearrin, maybe? He's a bit like Kontos in age and contract status. Of course he'd have to be replaced, I wonder if there's a guy waiting and ready. I suppose we'll see.

Yup. Up comes Pabs, today. He proved himself in the minors by batting in the lower .200s, so he should fit in well with the rest of the team. And room was made for Stratton, who hasn't even vaguely lived up to first-round-pick expectations, by getting rid of Kontos, who used to pitch well in relief.

we get nothing for kontos who was way over pitched this year. A week of rest and he should be be fine for pitt. Nunez looks like player of the week on boston. walk goldschmidt yesterday instead of pitching to him and giants win 1-0
