SF 5 PIT 0
The Giants finally notch their 20th win of the season by blanking the Bucs. It was Derek Holland's best start so far (6-1/3IP 4H 0R 5W 7K, GSc 67) and the lineup backed him with a 13-hit attack that included five extra-base hits (homers by Gorkys Hernandez and Nick Hundley and three doubles by the Brandons). Every starter had a hit except Evan Longoria (and Holland). It was a good effort this afternoon in Pittsburgh and stopped a sickening six-game skid. It wasn't merely a losing streak, it was a getting clobbered streak. Reyes Moronta, Will Smith, and Hunter Strickland finished up. That's the way they draw it up: solid start, big hits, clean defense, stout relief.
The Giants are home tomorrow night against the Cincinnati Reds. Chris Stratton takes the hill.
GO GIANTS!

Yesterday's game was actually pretty competitive, too. Giants out-hit the Bucs and then Watson blew it - like a blown save, and those things are going to happen. It's too bad it was at the end of a 5 game losing streak. The Giants hit the ball much better and today, got pitching to go with it. Impressive work by Holland. Last time out, he gave us 5 innings and gave up 3 runs in our least lopsided game against Philadelphia.
With Posey out of the lineup, we finally received some RBI's from the catchers position. Hundley with 3 RBI on the day, and now has as many RBI as Posey.
