Three in a row makes .500

SF 4  MIN 3

Alex Cobb had given up only three homers in 51 IP so far this season so it was weird to see him give up two in one game. But that he did. He also pitched brilliantly over seven frames, keeping the Giants close and giving them a chance to win. Which they did. Down 3-0 in the 6th facing Twins starter Sonny Gray J.D. Davis led off with a walk and Michael Conforto followed with a double. A walk to Mitch Haniger loaded the bases and Gray was done. With two outs rookies Patrick Bailey and Bryce Johnson drew walks and the Giants were on the board. Thairo Estrada doubled to lead off the 7th and Conforto homered (#10) to give the Giants the lead. Scott Alexander had a 1-2-3 8th and Camilo Doval closed it out in the 9th for his 13th save.

The Giants even up their record to 24-24 and that's the first time they've hit .500 since they were 3-3 on April 6th.

It's Anthony DeSclafani and Joe Ryan tomorrow morning (10:10 PT) in the getaway game. They go to Milwaukee for four after that.

Go Giants!

Wednesday, a walk off day, and the giants had a very weird game. Were charged with 3 errors, but easily could have been charged with 5. Giants had more hits, several walks, had two of our own guys get on base through errors, had runners in scoring position with no outs several times, and ended up with only one run. We had a couple of shots off the wall, that just missed. Not so sure I am liking Flores hitting for Yaz. unless they are trying to ease Yaz in. Can't win every game, but today's game was particularly brutal. The Brewers I think have now tossed 2 straight shutouts vs. Houston. No easy task. Not much time to brood over this game for the players, and time to get back on the win path. If there is one thing I can see improvement for Casey S. is his pitch selection. He seems to get himself out on some very bad pitches, but he has the ability to drive really good pitches in the K zone. Trying too hard? overanxious? Still he has been a major spark for this team. Today was just one of those nightmare games. Twins scoring without even getting a hit, and the giants spraying the ball all over the field, until they have runners in scoring position. Casey S. with the one RBI.

Brewers are 15-9 at home, Giants are 9-14 on the road.

Scott Alexander is listed as the opener for tomorrow. Wood starts Friday, Webb Saturday, and Cobb Sunday.

It was an ugly loss today but that's three series wins in a row (PHI, MIA, MIN). Let's hope they can keep it up.

The bullpen, especially, has been much better of late. Today, the Twins scored only 2 runs that were not the result of Giants errors or misplays.
