Different night, same story

LA 3  SF 1

The Giants could not solve Walker Buehler and fell to the Dodgers for the second night in a row. That's three straight losses to end the month of June. Their 16-9 record for the month is just a tick (.640) below their 18-10 May (.643). Kevin Gausman could not command his splitter and got himself in trouble with five walks in five innings. Giants were 0-for-6 with RISP--Steven Duggar's RBI double in the 7th came with Wilmer Flores on first base.

Mauricio Dubon was sent down and Thairo Estrada was called up. Giants are off today and open a four-game set in Arizona on Thursday at 6:40 PT. Johnny Cueto gets the start.

Go Giants!

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bad-umpire-angel-hernandez-giants-172652052.html Saw this link to an article on yahoo showing that Angel Hernandez may have indeed cost the giants game one. Time Lincecom, Jason Schmidt and Gausman are all more effective when they get the bottom of the strike zone. If that pitch becomes a ball, suddently the split finger is almost taken off the table. I had noticed this also when Timmy was in his prime. Some of his worst games occurred when the bottom of the strike zone seemed elusive. Nevertheless, the giants are still 1.5 games in first place, and looking to stop their 3 game losing streak. Will, Duggar continue to show signs of being a good major league hitter, or are we watching a prolonged hot streak from a mediocre hitter?

Duggar's strikeouts are a concern, but I think he's finally put his game together. I think he's a major-leaguer. I like his glove anywhere in the OF and he looks more confident and disciplined at the plate. His .463 BABIP won't last, but that doesn't mean he can't be a decent hitter.

Even former Giants are hitting homers. Panik and Duvall for the the Marlins, Adrianza of the Braves just to name a few. Wondering if Slater has any options?

Slater has one option left.

We had to have a "June Swoon," it's traditional. Good thing it was just 3 games at the end of the month. Let's hope we got that out of our systems.
