Up to eleven!

SF 2  OAK 0

Johnny Cueto tossed seven superb shutout innings in front of a near-capacity crowd in San Francisco. A showman likes an audience and the flamboyant Giants hurler gave the home fans plenty to cheer about. Wilmer Flores doubled in the 4th and came in on a single by Brandon Crawford to make it 1-0. A solo shot from Curt Casali in the 7th made it 2-0 and Tyler Rogers and Jake McGee made it stand up for the team's eleventh shutout and 49th win.

Brandon Belt went to the IL as expected and LaMonte Wade, Jr. was recalled. Darin Ruf started and played first base, Wade pinch-hit for him in the 8th.

Alex Wood gets the start tomorrow night at 7:05 Pacific.

Go Giants!

Another shutout for the giants, as the Padres continue to win, and the Dodgers handled the Cubs. Manaea somehow managed to get himself quite a strike zone to pitch to, but it wasn't enough as the giants found a way to win. An error by Dubon in the ninth made it interesting, although that was a tough error. Schwarber and Tatis continue to put up crazy numbers. Also of interest, Matt Wisler so far has been almost unhittable during 7 plus innings of pitching for Tampa.

Wisler has a track record of being a quality reliever so I'm not surprised. For some reason he could not get consistent performances in SF. That's OK, not all the moves work out. They were able to get an AA lefty starter in the deal.

We'll see today if Wood can get it going again. They can't just rely on Gausman and DeSclafani to do all the heavy lifting. Very encouraged by Cueto's outing last night!

I'll miss today's game as I'll be at a wedding.

I guess they are not getting married at the game.
