Finding New Ways

What do you say about a game in which Carlos Beltran has the defensive gem and Brandon Crawford errs?  Giants lose, yet again, to make it 6 in a row.  This time, to the Yankees, 3 - 2.

Madison Bumgarner taking the hill for the Giants in New York.  So far, this swing through the ballparks of the eastern AL has been anything but fun.  Madison pitched all right, he gave up 2 runs in 7 innings, 7 hits, struck out 6 and walked 3.  Josh Osich gave up 1.   The Giants did not score until the 7th, on a wild pitch, and then Williamson batted in Trevor Brown with a double in the 8th.  That tied the game until Brandon C threw the ball past Brandon B at first.  Buster banged a ball off of his foot and had to leave the game.  So the offense, which seemed to come alive during the last game in Boston as the pitchers were throwing batting practice, went back to sleep and a pretty well pitched game was wasted.   Well, here is something positive.  As I type this, the Cardinals have beaten the doggers in the 16th.

Tough times require tough minds. Or something. I'd rather scream and throw things, but I'm a grownup now so I have to be cool. But goddammit the Giants need a goddamn win.

It does get quiet around here during these spells. We all probably want to scream and rant ( or tremble ) but that is no fun/doesn't help. So we clam up. There's a word for it now: adulting. Ewwww, yuck huh? It's not so bad, pays the bills for me.
These are tough times. I think the lack of Hunter Pence, even in the dugout, is hurting. We forgot due to some great play but it gets more obvious. We need our ability to have fun back. He seems to embody that.

So....just how big is the Kershaw injury? No one is saying it out loud but doesn't it change our life ALOT? Do teams survive that?

Actually another positive, and you mentioned it. The Williamson AB and double (just missed going out!) was super impressive. He crushed a brutal pitch from a total stud. The front office notices that kind of thing.

I'm liking what I see from Williamson a lot more than I'm liking what I see from Parker. And when I say "what I see" I mean exactly that. I haven't seen nearly every bat from them, but it seems like when I am in front of the tv, I get a better impression of Williamson's potential.

I'm reading Andrew Baggarly. He says that Buster Posey is in the line up today, and that Johnny Cueto is pitching.

The praise for Mac looks prescient after the 2-1 win, finally, today. Tho he booted one run in for Them, he knocked in two for Us. Since he was at .9 fWAR before today, he must be getting near 1.0 now, in 92 PAs. Extrapolate to 600 PAs, and you get a pretty fancy WAR score and over 30 HRs; and that's with a high K-rate (over 25%) that experience should allow him to lower, and a low BABIP, .269, that suggests he's not the beneficiary of luck in putting up pretty impressive .843 OPS and a 132 wRC+.
