Vlog 20 "Historic Johnny"

5-1 vs. Col

Johnny Cueto's level of achievement, consistency and flair are all throwbacks to an older age of baseball.   While at the same time, he truly is like nothing we have ever seen before. Isn't that totally cool?  Click below for yet another installment of Johnny Joy:

13-7 in those 20 games, .650 win percentage. WOW.

You called it with the complete game. Man, ask and ye shall receive!! Who knew it worked like that??

That 9th inning (I was sure he was done after eight) was fabulous. I think it was EIGHT pitches--and that's LeMahieu, Arenado, Cargo, no slouches. 1-2-3 sit down you are toast!!! That was something.

What an impact this guy has made on the club. And he sure is fun to watch. FanGraphs rates him at 3.7 WAR, second only to Kershaw and Syndergaard, but better than Arrieta, Sale, Strasburg, Scherzer, Price, etc., etc. That's a hell of a move by the FO, eh?

Jon, the incredulous shake of the head at the end of the Vlog is priceless!

I had to restart that Vlog about six times because all I could do for a while was smile and say "Wow". I didn't figure that was very insightful commentary. However, if Cueto keeps this up I probably will have an episode of pure giggles.

13-7 is better than I thought. A couple of those losses were last minute blown saves too. And when you look at some of the lineups in the last 20 games it is even more incredible. I mean 20 days ago we didn't even have Tejada or Green in the picture. Also we now have taken nine of ten series in our division, is that right? The rookies, snakes and even doggers seem pretty tough to me but we are grinding thru them.

Isn't nice how much Cueto is forcing us to think about great Giant pitchers of the past. Many of these guys never had any postseason glory but they were great Giants none the less. We didn't use to measure our success in championships. Great seasons would buoy our hopes for years. Swift and Burkett were a couple of my favorites, for sure, but so many names pop up ( and ground out).
