B-Craw Bomb Beats Reds

SF 6  CIN 5
Brandon Crawford hit his first homer of the year in the 9th inning to lead the Giants to a come-from behind win in Cincinnati. Buster Posey had a big game as well with a double and a three-run homer. Starter Jeff Samardzija gave up three homers in a row in the 1st inning but then put together four scoreless and turned it over the the 'pen. The A-Team of Trevor Gott, Reyes Moronta, Tony Watson, and Will Smith shut the door and the Giants had their fourth win in their last six games.

They've one more in Cincy tomorrow morning (9:35 PDT) with Drew Pomeranz getting the call. It's on to Denver Tuesday with Madison Bumgarner.

p.s. Giants claimed RH starting pitcher Andrew Moore off waivers, he was with the Rays (and came up though the Mariners system). Breyvic Valera was DFAd to make a spot on the 40-man. Breyvic was a favorite for the All-Name Team, I'll be sorry to see him go.

I wonder how long the bullpen can keep turning in excellent performances.

If Posey can return to the former MVP Posey, than the giants will not go down quietly. I was hoping that the off season would get us a solid power hitter who could also hit for average to solidify the lineup, but if Posey returns to his old ways, the giants will be a force. Doubles and hits, and homers with men on base sure beats grounding out weakly, or hitting into a DP, or just not coming through. When the bats come through occasionally or more often, the team is no push over.

In 2017 Buster hit .320/.400/.462 with 34 doubles and 12 homers in 140 games. He's never going to be the 2012 MVP Buster Posey again, but the 2107 Posey is still a great player. The hip operation is a huge change since that time, so we'll see, but you have to like the recent surge. With Vogt on the bench he can get the time off he needs to stay fresh. He's 32 so you can't expect miracles.

Just how many times am I expected to be patient while we fall behind by a boatload of runs in the first inning? This is getting more than old. Fortunately we have been able to find ways to overcome that bs, but I know that is not something to count on. I love this team, but this is very hard to take. Watching Shark throw three pitches and all three left the park.... puke.

The Reds have outscored the Giants 13 - 0 in the first inning of this series. Are our pitchers ready to pitch when they walk out to the mound? And if not, what are we doing about it? Amazing (and a credit to the players) that we have won 2 of the 4 games (with today's pending), but 3+ runs/game in the first is ridiculous.

JF Christ! Since the Giants kind of made a game of it in the top of the 6th, Venditte got the first out, then 3 hit by pitch, 1 walk, 2 singles made it 11 - 3 and loaded the bases before the second out. He can take his novelty act back to the minor leagues.

Excuse me, I should have waited. 4 hbp! That has to be a record.

Another ugly effort today.
